UNAIR NEWS – Student Activity Unit (UKM) Pencak Silat Setia Hati Terate (PSHT) Universitas Airlangga has made an achievement in the arena of PSHT pencak silat competition among students in Indonesia held by Mulawarman University. Although the preparation was less than three weeks, PSHT UNAIR finally managed to win 1 gold and 2 bronze medals.
The three medals were obtained by six students, Moh. Ainun Najib (First Place Men Single); Putri Mira Ilfi (Third Place of Women Single); Putri Farina, Ellyzabeth, and Wima (Third Place of Women Team); and Putri Nailatul Muizah (Third Place of Women Match).
Alfiansyah Noval as the team leader admits that the team’s preparation was only three weeks. Despite uncertain weather changes during the exercise, the spirit of Airlangga Knights never subsided.
“We prepared everything for this competition in three weeks. The obstacles were uncertain weather changes, “said the student of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine UNAIR.
The competition titled “Kejurnas Pencak Silat PSHT Mulawarman University” was held from Sunday to Friday, November 12-17 in GOR 27 September Mulawarman University. In addition to the championship, previous team of UKM PSHT UNAIR also won at Singapore Open.
During practice, they were guided directly by Alam Budi Kusuma. The participants were given various training, from physical training, technique, to match strategy.
Before winning the title champion, the team was anxious because they felt that their opponents cannot be underestimated. In addition, team members must cleverly manage their time between practice and study as their studies are the priorities. No less important, to support the readiness to compete, every member must maintain health to be able to perform well. (*)
