UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga keeps its fast pace in improving education quality. It is proven once again as UNAIR has maintained its “Excellence Level” achievement for education quality assessment. Education quality in UNAIR has been certified for ISO 9001:2015, MBNQA 2015-2016, and IWA 2:2007.
On Tuesday, January 10, quality certification institution, DeCRA, released their management assessment. Quality assessment was based on external audit conducted on November, 14-18 and November 28-30 2016 in almost all units in UNAIR. The certificates will be valid until December 17 December, 17, 2018.
In response to the assessment, UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. M. Nasih, S.E., M.T., Ak, stated his appreciation to all academicians which who have maintain quality of education process. According to rector, UNAIR was deemed responsive in adopting ISO 9001:2015 standards in Education Management.
“We have achieved ISO 9001:2015, we are included as responsive institution in using ISO 9001:2015 because we connect them with risk management issues,” he said.
Head of Quality Assurance Board (BPM) UNAIR Prof. Dr. Bambang Sektiari Lukiswanto, drh., DEA., elaborated all aspects related to education quality assessed by auditing institution. They are visi and missions, supporting policy, human resources and graduates’ quality.
“From the input process to output and outcome are related and to produce output and outcome as the vision and missions or objectives established,” said Bambang.
Regarding the excellence level achieved by UNAIR, Bambang said that this achievement is in line with the target established. The man graduated Rene Descartes University, Prancis, added that the results were achieved by all units since all aspects have conducted strategies for the aspects of assessment.
The benchmark is the quality policy which hold firm BEST. BEST is based on morality, excellent (academic, research, and community development), strong academic culture, and target oriented.
But, he hoped that there will be improvement on education quality organization especially when the predicate is achieved, UNAIR policies of course headed for internationalization.
“In the future, in my opinion, we need improvement so that all levels can synchronize all the programs and their steps are based on vision and mission which is established based on performance target, either long, medium length or yearly,” he said.
At institution/board/ student level, there are 17 units audited regarding policy developmental process while at program level, there are 30 program from all degrees, from all faculties audited related to learning process.
IWA 2 is a part of ISO (International Organization for Standardization) which performs audit and assessment to higher education institution. Audit and assessment by external organization are conducted to all units in UNAIR.
Meanwhile, MBNQA (Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award) is to assess quality of organizations in business, healthcare, education and other non-profit sector. (*)
