UNAIR NEWS – There were about two hundred people with different backgrounds in Kahuripan Hall Management Office Building Campus C UNAIR on Saturday morning, September 17. There were tax consultants, taxpayers, accountants, auditors, finance consultants, lecturers and students.
They were attending the seminar titled “Policy Direction After Tax Amnesty”. The event was held by UNAIR in collaboration with the Taxation General Directorate of Ministry of Finance (Ditjen Pajak Kemenkeu), Indonesian Accountant Association – Taxation Accountant Compartment (IAI-KAPj), and BRI which invited two competent speakers. They were Prof. Dr. Poltak Maruli John Liberty Hutagaol, MAc., Mec(Hons)., AK., CA as the International Taxation Director of Ditjen Pajak Kemenkeu and Head of Central IAI-KPAj, and DR Rudi Purwono SE., MSE as the Vice Dean of Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UNAIR.
There was a keynote speaker Head of Regional Office of DJP East Java I Kemenkeu, Estu Budiarto SE., MBA., Ak. The seminar was moderated by Dr Ardianto SE., MSi., Ak., CA., CMA Director of Finance UNAIR and Deputy of Third Division IAI East Java, and Dr Elia Mustikasari ., MSi., Ak., CA., CMA., BPK., BAK, the Head of Taxation Accounting and Information System Research and Development Laboratory (LPPAPSI) FEB UNAIR, and Deputy of Central IAI-KAPj.
In the occasion, Prof. John said that through Tax Amnesty program, the government tries to improve the economic aspect. Hopefully, taxpayers discipline will be better.
“It was a real measure from the government so the people of Indonesia can be ready and determined to start great scale developmental program to achieve,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Rudi explained that Indonesian current economic condition is full of uncertainty. Therefore, global financial institution always makes projection with immediate correction. To make it even more effective, efficient and well, contributions from all elements are needed.
“The economy will accelerate if the private parties contribute. But it should be alongside the government, to avoid imbalance,” he said.
Principally, Tax Amnesty seminar is expanding the insight and knowledge on tax policy which has been predicted by the executive to normalize the state treasury. The issue was discussed from many perspectives thoroughly.
Director of Finance Dr Ardianto during interview hoped that the seminar could illustrate the impacts of Tax Amnesty, also show the policy and its direction after the program was implemented, so the business community and general public could understand the objectives and its philosophy.
“In the seminar macro economics study was also elaborated to illustrate the importance of Tax Amnesty,” he said.
As we all know, Tax Amnesty Law was enacted by the House of Representatives (DPR) and valid since Jully 1, 2016. Therefore, publicization on the technical understanding of the society was needed including the firmness of legal aspect in terms of taxation.
Tax Amnesty objective is to make the taxpayers more obedient in reporting their wealth which has not been reported to the taxation administrative system. Therefore, control of government will be improved so the state income from tax is at max. (*)
