UNAIR NEWS – Department of Communications (Depkom) FISIP UNAIR known to have complete facilities to support the lecturing process. There are some laboratories in the department, such as design simulation laboratory, public relations simulation, radio, broadcasting, photography and film.
In addition, there are also various student clubs and communities. They facilitate the students to express and show their talents and interests. Therefore, the spirit of learning will always be pumped.
Student clubs are Corat-Coret (painting/drawing), Commic (photography), Public Relation, Audio Visual, Peeping (film), Commpor (basketball and futsal), Seo (event organizer), Rocs (radio), and Koma (journalism).
Depkom is optimistic to be able to compete in global competition. “We’ve heard phrase said by our rector: we are going there. It means we are on our way to highest level at international level. This department is ready and it has been that way for a while,” Suko Widodo, a lecturer, said.
Head of Depkom Dr Yayan Sakti Suryandaru S.Sos., M.Si., confirmed that his department has made breakthroughs. Many national and international seminars have been held. International speakers have always been invited to share knowledge in many occasions.
“Alumni of Depkom have contributed in many fields nationally and even internationally. We can conclude that this department’s graduates can blend and be accepted well in professional community,” he said.
To improve the lecturers’ quality, some lecturers are facilitated to continue studies. Most of them study abroad. So far, we have cooperated with foreign institutions or universities such as Oslo University College, University of Queensland, Edit Cowan University, dan Auckland University of Technology. (*)
