Internationalization is one of the ways taken by universities to move for the better. As a process, internationalization is carried out by developing programs of cooperation and partnerships with other institutions abroad. The Faculty of Law of Airlangga University is trying to realize this by visiting several well-known law campuses in the Netherlands. The visit, which was held in mid-November, was led directly by Dr. Maradona, S.H., LL.M as Deputy Dean III for Publication Research, Community Service, and Cooperation. Through an opportunity, he explained that the visit was intended to explore the possibility of expanding cooperation partners and maintaining good relations with existing partners.

At least two well-known campuses were visited: the Faculty of Law Maastricht University in Maastricht City and Erasmus School of Law in Rotterdam City. During his visit to the Faculty of Law Maastricht University, a delegation from the Faculty of Law, Universitas Airlangga was received directly by Professor Jan Smits as the Dean. The visit at least discussed several things, starting from joint achievements in Legal Education, Ethics, and Professionalism as part of the Orange Knowledge Program (LEAP-OKP) and the possibility of new collaborations as a form of continuity. Various new agreements were also formed, which were marked by signing a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions.

The visit to Erasmus School of Law also went well. Prof. Mr. Dr. Harriët Schelhaas as the Dean of Erasmus School of Law was present to receive the visit directly accompanied by Prof. Mr. Dr. Joost Nan as a criminal law expert who is also an adjunct professor at the Faculty of Law, Airlangga University. The visit was intended to initiate a new cooperation program between the two institutions in the form of student and lecturer exchanges. Dr. Maradona, S.H., LL.M explained that the cooperative relationship between the Faculty of Law, Universitas Airlangga, and Erasmus School of Law had existed for quite a long time. The visit this time was carried out to strengthen cooperation which will be realized through a new program next year. “Thus, FH UNAIR’s collaboration partners in the Netherlands will increase, and the existing relationships will also be maintained with this visit,” he said at the end of the occasion.
