The Delegation of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Airlangga (FH UNAIR), again won the title in the State Islamic University (UIN) Law Fair IV 2023 debate competition. The delegation consisted of Kharisma Putri Wardhani (2020), Kevin Hartono (2020), Aditya Nur Rizki Putra (2020), Angelica Milano Aryani Wibisono (2021), Christhalia Emmanuel Tanra (2022), and Jane Natasha (2022) won the first place in the 2023 UIN Law Fair IV Debate Competition as well as the General Champion of the Constitutional Court Rotation Cup.
The UIN Law Fair IV Debate Competition will be held in a hybrid manner on 12-19 May 2023. In the preliminary round, the competition will be held online via Zoom Meeting. Then, the semifinal and final rounds were held offline at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, Jakarta.
The head of the delegation, Kharisma, told FH News on Wednesday (5/4/2023) that their team received 12 motions covering all fields of law, including administrative law, constitutional law, criminal law, international law, and others. This is one of the difficulties they face because these motions are also quite challenging.
“Apart from the fact that we came from three different forces, we also had difficulties because we had to learn 12 motions during just one month of preparation,” said Kharisma.
The debate motions they got were:
- The ratification of the International Labor Organization (ILO) convention on indigenous and tribal peoples in Indonesia.
- The application of amicus curiae by the Supreme Court in court hearings in Indonesia.
- Private companies manage bottled drinking water (AMDK) business activities.
, prohibition of deep seabed mining practices in Indonesian marine ecosystems, protection of human rights through humanitarian intervention in armed conflicts, application of sunset clauses legislation in the formation of laws and regulations in Indonesia, and other motions related to legal issues in Indonesia.
“UNAIR Faculty of Law is not the first time participating in the UIN Law Fair. We have participated for the fourth time, and thank God we always become the overall champion every year,” said Kharisma.
In closing, Kharisma conveyed the message’s impression and tips and tricks to defend the title of General Champion. He and his team certainly feel happy and proud to be able to become Champion I again.
“It’s exciting to meet other teams. This will not be obtained without regular training and evaluation and never giving up. Building a pleasant atmosphere while preparing for the competition is also important for keeping the members’ mental state in check. We are also very grateful to UNAIR FH lecturers who have helped us, Ms. Indah Camelia, Mr. Taufik Rachman, Prof. Koesrianti, Ms. Zendy Prameswari, Mr. Syaiful Aris, Mr. Radian Salman, Mr. Maradona, Mr. Iqbal Felisiano, Ms. Lina Hastuti, Mr. Joeni, and UNAIR FH alums, Ms. Rima; MYMA friends and alums; and other parties that we cannot mention one by one. Without their help and support, we would not have been able to go this far and win the title,” concluded Kharisma.
