Enliven the Youth Pledge, International Relations Students Wear Traditional Clothes During Class

SURABAYA – HUMAS | On October 31, 2022, a unique event took place during a Kajian Keindonesiaan (KKI) class at the Faculty of Social and Political Science at Universitas Airlangga. The class was commemorating Youth Pledge Day, and students, teaching assistants, and lecturers competed to showcase their best traditional attire. The event was a celebration of Indonesian culture and history, and participants wore a variety of traditional clothing.

The Kajian Keindonesiaan (KKI) class on Youth Pledge Day was divided into two sessions: presentation and lecture. The presentation session was held in three separate classrooms, and it began with the playing of the Indonesian national anthem, Indonesia Raya, and the reading of the Youth Pledge. After the presentation session, the students were combined into one large class to attend the lecture session.

After the presentation session concludes, the next activity is the selection of the best costume and the most outstanding student, who is the most active participant during the Q&A session. This moment is eagerly awaited by the students. Each class will choose one best costume male, one best costume female, and one most outstanding student.

In Class A, Muhammad Raka Hadiyan won the best costume male category, and Cecilia Adora won the best costume female category. The most outstanding student category was won by Ghulam Phawa Pambayung. In Class B, Massari Inong Tanaurant, Syarifah Hulyatul Umami Alawiyah, and Muhammad Ikmal Razaq received the best costume awards. Inez Yafi Salsabila, on the other hand, won the most outstanding student award. In Class C, Amsal Amertandhani Setyono and Dewi Rachmawati emerged as the winners of the best costume category. The most outstanding student category in Class C was won by Muhammad Ikhwan Nuril Anwar.

“Every Monday we are required to wear batik attire, but because of today’s special event, our friends tried their best to look the coolest. Additionally, the class became more interesting and livelier,” expressed Wibawanto Wahyu Widodo, one of the students interviewed on that day.

“The impression is happy, you know. Especially because I can show off that I’m from Bali. After that, every regular Monday we cosplay like this, but today was more memorable than usual because there were awards,” added Regigo Prama Galo Siagian, one of the International Relations students, concluding the interview.
