UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga took part in the campus exhibition held at SMAN 18, Surabaya. In the campus exhibition organized by alumni of SMAN 18 Surabaya, 217 students of class XII enthusiastically listened to the dissemination provided by representatives from UNAIR, especially when they will soon face college entrance selection.
A lot of students asked about the terms and conditions to be accepted as UNAIR students. Pulung Siswantara S.KM, M.KM., after presentation about UNAIR was asked various questions from the participants who mostly want to continue their study at UNAIR.
One of them is Annisa. She asked: Can Science students take Social Studies majors ?
Answering the question, Pulung who also serves as a lecturer of FKM UNAIR and UNAIR protocol coordinator said that it is not recommended for students to take majors that are not in line with the department they took in high school because the SNMPTN Committee consider the marks of linear subjects with the selected program.
However, it does not apply for SBMPTN line selection. Because for this writing exam, it is free for them to choose the major as long as the participants can master the material tested.
Another question was from Dodi: Can the certificates of participation in competitions be attached ?
Answering the question, Pulung said that the certificates may be attached. However this is not an assessment point. They are only considered when they win from 1st to 6th places. The achievement earned at least at provincial level or competition organized by state university (PTN).
In 2018, there is no official quotas of SNMPTN yet. It will be released around the 12th and 13th of January.
Last year 2017, the competition rates of Medicine program was one of the favorite programs in UNAIR as it reached 1:20 for the SNMPTN pathway, 1:40 for the SBMPTN pathway, and 1:80 for the Independent pathway. In the same year, the competition rate of some programs increased from the previous year for the SNMPTN pathway.
In addition to UNAIR, there were several universities participating in the campus exhibition on Thursday, January 11, such as Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Surabaya; Universitas Pembangunan Nasional (UPN) “Veteran”; Universitas Negeri Surabaya; Universitas Brawijaya, Malang; and Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Ampel (UINSA), Surabaya.
