UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga through Student Admission Center and Information and Public Relations Center (PIH) held an exhibition and consultation entitled Airlangga Education Expo (AEE). The exhibition and consultation lasted for three days, from Friday – Sunday, February 23-25 at the Airlangga Convention Center (ACC).
The dialogue was done with the Rector of UNAIR Prof. Dr. H. Mohammad Nasih, SE., MT., Ak, CMA., Friday, February 23. The dialogue with the rector was attended by students, headmasters and teachers of Guidance and Counseling (BK), as well as parents from various schools in East Java.
On that occasion, the Rector said that UNAIR wanted to provide information about the registration and regulation to enroll at UNAIR .
“We want to give the best information, especially to the headmasters. Because one of the factors for the success of the graduates is not only about the value alone, but also the position of the competition of each study program, “said Rector.
Thus, the Rector continued, high school graduates should not make a wrong choice. By providing information on UNAIR admission and the mechanism, high school graduates can get the appropriate higher education in UNAIR.
The professor of Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) said unequivocally that UNAIR would not be pleased if it only became a stepping stone. If it is accepted at UNAIR and they do not re-register because they are accepted elsewhere, then the student’s school will get index reductions.
“They have to choose. If anyone retreats, the student not only harm the institution, but also harm their friends who should be accepted, “said Rector.
The sanction, continued the rector, was to ensure that the registration of students have been thought through. Thus, enrolling universities especially in UNAIR is not for trial and error. “Schools should se serious. It should be thought through, “he continued.
In 2018, for the S1 degree, the student admission quota at UNAIR is 5250. The quota is divided into 30 percent from SNMPTN, 40 percent of SBMPTN, and 30 percent of independent admission. There are some reductions to majors with large student capacities such as in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Management Studies, FEB .
“Previously FKH accepted up to 270 students, (but it will be reduced, ed) to 250. We also reduced Management studies, from 280 into 250 students. We reduce it because it adjusts the capacity, both laboratory, classrooms, and lecturers, “he explained.
The Rector said the reduction is aimed to make the education better, and maintain the quality of learning.
Besides talk shows and Q&A session of SBMPTN and Mandiri, there is a talk show on student exchange opportunities, talkshow on choosing majors, talkshow on scholarship at UNAIR, talk show with outstanding students and alumni, also with entrepreneurship student.
