UNAIR NEWS – The Academic Senate of Universitas Airlangga visited Off Main Campus Study Program (PSDKU) Banyuwangi, on Saturday, February 23. The visit was in the agenda of UNAIR Academic Senate work meeting in Banyuwangi. In order to review the readiness to face the accreditation of study program this year.

Dean of Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UNAIR Prof. Dr. Dian Agustina S.E., M.Si., Ak., said that the visit was intended to support the preparation of PSDKU UNAIR who would soon be accredited. Despite being away from the main campus in Surabaya, she added, the senate was obliged to provide the best guidance and direction.

“Yes, Banyuwangi (PSDKU UNAIR, ed) is like a child who lives far away, separated as the location is quite far from the main campus in Surabaya. However, we treat them the same. The Senate must guide it to success, ” she said.

With the visit, Prof. Dian hoped the senate can see directly the condition of campus PSDKU Banyuwangi. All members of each commission, she added, were invited to participate in providing recommendations to the executive, especially the rector.

“Particularly provide guidance on steps for PSDKU development in the future,” she said.

Meanwhile, PSDKU Coordinator Prof., Dr., Suryanto, M.Si., explained that PSDKU UNAIR in Banyuwangi has been running for four years. Because of its fast development, he added, it is ready for accreditation. Many programs are prepared to support accreditation.

“Things as detailed as possible are done to get maximum results. This (senate visit, ed) is very helpful for us to provide early evaluation before the accreditation process begins, “he said.

Not only for education personnel, students from the four study programs will also be involved in the preparation of the accreditation. Optimal results are expected to be achieved. Banyuwangi has great hope for UNAIR.

“Of course this activity (visits, ed) is one of the proofs of determination to guarantee its integrity to the public,” he said.

On the other hand, the Head of the Department of Veterinary Science PSDKU UNAIR in Banyuwangi, Iwan Sahrial Hamid, drh., M.Si., explained that the accreditation process will be done mid-2018. Each study program will be visited before the accreditation, around April.

“We introduce the location of PSDKU campus to the senate. Both the ones in Giri and in Sobo, Banyuwangi. The two campuses are located in the heart of Banyuwangi Regency. Veterinary medicine and aquaculture is in Giri. Meanwhile, in Sobo, there are Public health programs and Accounting, “he said. (*)
