UNAIR NEWS – Off Main Campus Study Program (PSDKU) Universitas Airlangga in Banyuwangi continues to make improvements. Since it was inaugurated on October 19, 2014, PSDKU UNAIR in Banyuwangi has undergone many changes and improvements.
To understand the dynamics, achievements and targets of PSDKU UNAIR in Banyuwangi, UNAIR NEWS interviewed the Coordinator of PSDKU UNAIR in Banyuwangi Prof., Dr., Suryanto, M.Si., early March.
Prof. Suryanto – stated that up to now there are more than 600 students currently studying in four study programs (Prodi). In details, accounting study program has 190 students, veterinary medicine has 171 students, aquaculture has 171 students, and public health has 172 students.
“To continue to improve the quality, we are committed that this year, the target, all the prodi should be accredited,” said Prof. Suryanto.
Furthermore, regarding the target of UNAIR to the top 500 of the world universities, PSDKU UNAIR in Banyuwangi is also actively involved in supporting UNAIR. Because of that, Prof. Suryanto asserted that PSDKU UNAIR keep pushing all its academic community in Banyuwangi to be active in research and publications. Therefore, these two things become one of the indicators that can boost the reputation of UNAIR in the world.
“Although there are no such targets, what is done by PSDKU UNAIR in Banyuwangi so far is an effort towards that direction. In fact, we facilitate the academicians to continue to do research and we also have a budget for it, “said professor of Faculty of Psychology UNAIR.
The effort was not in vain. According to Prof. Suryanto, every PSDKU UNAIR study program in Banyuwangi already has an online journal . In fact, the journal belonging to the accounting program has entered the Open Access Journal (DOAJ) Directory, one of the most well-known journals list.
“In relation to research and publications, we also continue to hold various trainings. This is important because research becomes the foundation for improving human resources, “he explained. “Hence, in the development of PSDKU UNAIR in Banyuwangi, we focus on two things, publication and research,” he added.
At the end, Prof. Suryanto expressed some hope for the progress of PSDKU UNAIR in Banyuwangi, especially for the construction of facilities. According to him, the facility for lecture activities should be completed soon. Because, if only borrowed buildings, the facility is considered not optimal. Better to build once up for a long period.
“I also hope the accreditation will be satisfactory. As so far both from Banyuwangi regency and UNAIR have given very good support, “he concluded.
