UNAIR NEWS – Banyuwangi has more than 80 wonderful tourist destinations and 77 events scheduled each year. Quoted from the local media, that tourist visits both foreign and domestic, has exceeded the target. Last year, the number of foreign tourists in Banyuwangi has reached 75 thousand, and the target was only 45 thousand. The domestic tourists reached 2.7 million from the target of 2.3 million.
The tremendous potential of tourism in the easternmost regency of Java Island should be better developed and become a source of income (income) for both local people and local governments and participate in providing employment.
This also overcomes the number of unemployment rate in Banyuwangi which until the end of 2017 and reached 2.5% of the population dominated by the youth ( source: kemiren.com ).
“Whereas the youth of Banyuwangi or often called lare Osing should be the spearhead in succeeding the program Explore Banyuwangi. From that idea, we five students of UNAIR PSDKU Banyuwangi create a program we call ‘TEMPONG, “said Cici Farista.
The Community Service Student Creativity Program (PKMM) team of five students of Universitas Airlangga are Cici Farista as the leader and Mesty Retnowati members, Alvin Ridho Izzudin, Rita Sulistyowati and Arina Manasika. All from Accounting Department Faculty of Economics and Business UNAIR PSDKU Banyuwangi.
With the guidance from lecturer, Riski Isminar Ardianti, SE., M.Ec.Dev., Cici and friends proposal was themed Program of TEMPONG (Traveling Company with Lare Osing ) has successfully passed the selection of Dikti, so it is entitled to achieve development fund in the 2018 PKM program from Kemenristekdikti.

“We hope that the program can empower Lare Osing as an effort to increase revenue for tourism potential in Banyuwangi which is beginning to be exposed,” added Cici while explaining what is meant by “TEMPONG”.
TEMPONG in this case is not a typical snack of Banyuwangi City in the form of super-spicy sauce that “slapped” ( tempong / language Osing), “Nasi Tempong”. TEMPONG here is an abbreviation of Travel Company with Lare Osing – an online guide training program that uses the media in the form of Travelmate application .
According to Cici, this training will teach the partners (Lare Osing) how to be a good tour guide and how to use the application Travelmate, starting from the operation of the admin system to launch partners as your guide online on the Travelmate application.
Travelmate itself is a tailor-made application to support TEMPONG program, with the motto ” Bring out The Best Local Experiences for You …” This application is designed to bring together local and foreign tourists with local residents who have the capability in guiding tourists.
“We hope the presence of this application can be a medium for local residents, especially TEMPONG (Lare Osing) partners Kemiren Village to participate in promoting and developing the potential of tourism in the region by providing excellent service for tourists who visit,” added Cici Farista.
