Police Provide License Extension for Student and Public at UNAIR

UNAIR NEWS – Academic activities, as well as self-development activities, often become one of the reasons students forget to extend their driving licenses. Many of them also from out of town so they require quite a lot of time to return home.

For this reason, one of the leading State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Jasa Rahardja in collaboration with the Indonesian National Police (Polri) and Universitas Airlangga held an event entitled Police & Jasa Rahardja Go to Campus and Safety Riding on Wednesday, September 5The event took place at Airlangga Convention Center (ACC) building in Campus C, UNAIR.

In the event, the National Police, especially from the Traffic Unit (Satlantas) of Police City Resort (Polrestabes) Surabaya stationed a mobile license service unit at ACC building parking area.

The mobile service was intended for students and residents around the campus. Early in the morning dozens of visitors queued to extend their license, SIM A or SIM C.

“As we know, UNAIR students are from various regions across Indonesia.  UNAIR students can take advantage of this service, ”Bripka Ari Mahlizar, coordinator of the mobile SIM service.

“So, students do not have to leave their studies just to extend their license,” he added.

The officer from the Surabaya Police Satlantas added that the mobile SIM service this time was also intended to support the Police & Jasa Rahardja Go To Campus and Safety Riding program, an activity aimed to promote efforts to reduce the high number of accidents to the public, especially by Jasa Rahardja together with the National Police to students.

Related to the service, said Bripka Ari, the extension of the SIM was done online throughout Indonesia. It means the applicant for extension can come from various regions in Indonesia. They have to go back home to extend their license to One-Roof Single Managing System (SAMSAT) in their respective regions.

“The SIM extension service that we do is online all over Indonesia. All Indonesian people can extend the SIM here. Without having to go back to their place of origin, ” said the police who usually serves in Bungkul Park.

When asked about the regular SIM extension service on campus, Bripka Ari could not provide certainty. All of that, he continued, was based on the policy of Satlantas Polrestabes Surabaya.

“We (Police, ed) are  public servants. It means we will always be ready to serve the community, “he concluded. (*)
