UNAIR NEWS – Sharia Financial Access for Independent Community through Mosque or known as AKSI UMMAD, is trying to improve the community access to sharia financial service. To do it, AKSI UMMAD established by Financial Service Authority (OJK) collaborates with academicians from universities including Universitas Airlangga.
“The main objectives of the program are to improve the functions and the roles of mosques as the center of proselytism and independent economy, improve the roles of Zakat, Infak, Shadaqah, and Wakaf (ZISWAF) in the community empowermentas well as improve the access to financial service,” said Muliaman as OJK Commissioner Chief of OJK, Tuesday, May 30.
Besides the mosque, ZISWAF institutes and sharia banking, the program of AKSI UMMAD also integrates the active contribution of academicians, religious leaders and practitioners in providing guidance to all congregation members participating in the program.
Aris Budiman as the Chief of Sharia Banking Division of OJK Regional 4 East Java added that the mosque has a strategic role in any activities such as social, religious, educative even economic activities.
“Through this program, we wanted to improve the life of the congregations, and there are 6 mosques for pilot project. Five in Surabaya and one in Sidoarjo. One of them is Al-Falah Mosque in Surabaya,” he stated.
Aris also added that the program provides guidance, from spiritual guidance to competence improvement or business capacity.
“The spiritual guidance process is done by Islamic economics Forum. The cooperation will be continued to the mosque managements, UNAIR is included in it,” said Aris.
Then, the universities involved in this program will provide guidance from the business capacity aspect. Students will be involved in providing guidance to the customers as community service.
“All the program partners have collaborated and contributed in the goal to improve the congregation independence especially from the mosques,” he said.
