UNAIR NEWS – As a metropolis, Surabaya also has the second most teenagers in East Java. But with that fact, health promotional efforts on reproduction have not been done optimally.  Health promotional efforts mostly focused on infants. As a result, there is 46.7% of total teenagers who are not prepared for their menarche (first time of mestruation) and causes bad vulva hygiene.

The topic is studied by Indah Lutfiya for her thesis, she is the best bachelor program graduate of Faculty of Public Health (FKM)  Universitas Airlangga. She finished her study with GPA 3.88. The girl from Jombang believed that her success was the fruit of discipline during study.

“The main key to get this success is organizing a timeline and target plan in life. We must focus and consistent with timeline we made. If it isn’t achieve midway, we must think of other planning so there wouldn’t be stagnance along the way,” she said.

For her, every joy in life blessed by God always makes her a grateful individual. Through MAPANZA and BEM FKM, Indah learned to be an intellectual useful to others.

“Never stop to learn and share your life by giving to each other” is Indah’s motto. As a student, she is never reluctant to blend and share in ODHA community, has a discussion with a transvestite or gay, observes NAPZA rehabilitation, and talks with street kids in Save Street Children (SSC) community. Those various activities are sweet memories she had from college.

Her busy schedule never stops her to work. Behind her success, she was also an achiever during senior high school. She has even been at the second place of Parallel Class in SMAN 3 Jombang, second place in Trivial Quiz on School Health Unit in Jombang in 2010. In 2004 her research on Leprosy was funded by DIKTI through Students Creativity Program–Community Service. (*)
