UNAIR NEWS – The Czech Republic is one of the European countries with West Slavic language. In the north, the country with 10,504,203 population (2011) is bordered by Poland. East with Slovakia. South with Austria. And, west with Germany.
The Czech Republic has established cooperation with Indonesia. Indonesian performance and partnerships were conveyed by the Indonesian Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Dr. Aulia A. Rahman, S.H., M.Si., at Universitas Airlangga on Thursday, March 1. In Garuda Mukti Hall, Campus C Management Building, the man who has served as ambassador since 2015 delivered his guest lecture to UNAIR students and lecturers.
“In the field of higher education, the Czech Republic is potential to become partners of Indonesia,” he said. “One day you must have a dream to go there, to continue education there, ” he added.
Beside the relationship between Indonesia and the Czech Republic over the years, Dr. Aulia also discussed the challenges and new era of the world called the Industrial Revolution 4.0. The rapid development of information technology sparked digital innovations that brings positive and negative sides.
“There is artificial intelligence now. It is artificial intelligence inserted or planted in a system that can be arranged in a scientific or artificial intelligence context. This could be a challenge, “he said.
Therefore, Dr. Aulia added, the mastery of technology for the younger generation, especially students, must be a necessity in a positive sense. In addition, students must prepare themselves to be leaders not only within the regional scope but they must also forge themselves to become leaders in the international sphere for this era of openness.
“You are candidates for future leaders. We are a great nation. Back in 1956, Our First President Ir. Soekarno is recognized in the Czech Republic. Ir. Soekarno earned honoris causa from Charles University, ” his motivation to the participants attending.
At the end, Dr. Aulia hoped that students, especially of Universitas Airlangga Surabaya, maintain and foster the spirit of unity in giving the best contribution to the nation, to 261.1 million people of Indonesia. Just like the previous national figures from Surabaya.
“In Indonesian history, the unifiers were the historical leaders of the modern Indonesian nation originating from Surabaya such as H.O.S. Tjokroaminoto, Budi Oetomo, Bung Tomo, Soekarno. It was part of contribution of the people of East Java to the unity of the nation, “he said.
“Do not forget that, as the successor, you should contribute more to all the people of Indonesia. And, the task is in the hands of students, “he said. (*)
