’Basic Training of Public Health’, UNAIR Banyuwangi Public Health Regeneration

UNAIR NEWS – Regeneration continued to be conducted by the Undergraduate Student Association of Public Health of PSDKU Universitas Airlangga Banyuwangi, by holding Basic Training of Public Health (BToPH) last Saturday.

According to BtoPH chief executive officer Rochmad Ardiansyah P, on Monday, November 13, BToPH activity is a form of actualization of introduction to public health program (Kesmas) to freshmen. The material introduced primarily about the ethical aspect, basic of public health science, job opportunity, and application of health science itself.

The objective is to make early semester students know more about the program they have chosen. Currently, the students of undergraduate program of Public Health Sciences PSDKU Universitas Airlangga Banyuwangi has reached the 4th generation, with a total of about 200 students. They come from various regions in Indonesia.

“The regeneration activity with BToPH is held for one semester, but the  action takes place for 1.5 months. The peak of this action was held on 9-10 September in Osing Tourism Park in Banyuwangi.

“Not only students, in the process of this event, all lecturers of Public Health in Banyuwangi were also involved so the freshmen will be familiar with the lecturers, and they can recognize the next learning system, “said Ardin.

BToPH activities consists of introducing the Public Health program, the seven existing departments, an in-depth explanation of eight specializations, basic ethics learning, employment opportunities for college students, ISMKMI (Indonesian Student Senate Association of Public Health) and IAKMI (Indonesian Alumni Association of Public Health), religious studies, teamwork building between seniors and juniors, the implementation of event, internships and many more.

Judged by Nurmakkatul, a freshman of class 2017, this activity was quite unique, because she claimed to know the selected program through this activity in an interesting way.

“I am impressed with the presentation of BToPH event, because with this event I am more familiar on how to become a public health scholar, more familiar with friends, and know what happens after graduation,” said Nurmakkatul. (*)
