UNAIR NEWS – In the blessed month of Ramadan, Student Activity Unit (UKM) of the Student Regiment (MENWA) of Universitas Airlangga, conducts various social activities. One of them is Sahur on The Road (SoTR) which was implemented on 15th day of Ramadan, June 11.
The activity was started from Student Center (SC) of UNAIR Campus C . It was done by distributing wrapped meals to janitors, becak drivers, and people sleeping along the road in Pacarkeling market until the finish at Taman Apsari.
In addition to SoTR, the previous day, a team from Menwa also held a series of open activities together with children of Islamic Junior High School Plus. Active members of Menwa also did not forget to involve the alumni to participate in the event.
“This event is routinely done during the month of Ramadan every year,” said Aksel Prasta Radityo as 68th generation’s commander of Menwa.
Aksel also added that the event was aimed to improve the social sense for its members. In addition, for Aksel, this tradition has become a social service and a form of effort to add a sense of caring and to share to others.
“The event is also held to strengthen the ties between active members and alumni,” he said.
Involvement of alumni in the event proved with the input and suggestions submitted when the entire team of Menwa was enjoying the sahur in Apsari park. For further activities, Aksel said that with this activity can encourage social spirit, especially for members to be more grateful and continue to share. Not only in Ramadan, but for the following months.
“Hopefully, we will have greater reach with more routes to share to more people in need”, he added.
