UNAIR NEWS – As part of a contribution to the alma mater, Drs. Ec. A. Cholis Hamzah, M.Sc. wrote a book entitled Reflections on the Inspiration of the Nation . The book he wrote in 2012 during his travel to various countries, both for education and work reason.
The book review was held on Thursday, October 19 by presenting four speakers, Cholis Hamzah, the author of the book, TNI Brigadier General (Ret.) Soebagijo, SH, M.Hum, Akhyari Hananto Founder of Good News From Indonesia, Prof. Teddy Ontoseno, with a moderator Iman Dwi Hartanto who is a broadcaster of Suara Surabaya radio.
Reflections on the Inspiration of the Nation as the first book written by Cholis is the result of his contemplation during his life and study in other countries. The book consists of more than 50 articles.
On the occasion, Cholis talked a lot about the positive facts about Indonesia rarely or not exposed by the media. There are many smart people who produce great products and useful works.
Cholis said that the media have a role in spreading positive things. A jargon, “Bad news is good news” should not always be true.
“All nations including the media should have an ideology to support the advancement of the nation,” said Cholis.
The alumnus of Development Economics Faculty of Economics (now Faculty of Economics and Business) UNAIR added that the government should take part in advancing the Indonesian society in the eyes of foreigners. For example, by giving awards to the children of the nation who have made achievements. Thus, it triggers the emergence of other achievements.
“We must reward the Indonesian people who make great achievements abroad. Report them in Media. So they have pride as the Indonesian, “added Cholis.
Agree with that statement, Ahyari Hananto invited participants to have an optimistic mindset. “Of the many concerns in this country, rest assured that there are still many good, smart, and religious people. Do not let them run away and leave Indonesia, ” said Ahyari.
On that occasion, there were some participants who gave criticism for the improvement of the book. One participant from Surabaya suggested that there is a revised edition of the book by including when the articles were written, adding the book index, adding the picture so that the reader would not get bored. He also advised that the size of the book is reduced so it is easier to carry anywhere. (*)
