Retno Pudji Rahayu was born in Kutoarjo, Purworejo and raised in Surabaya. She graduated from Faculty of Dentistry at Airlangga University in 1984. She earned her master degree by 1995 and doctoral degree by 2004 through sandwich program of Airlangga University and Hiroshima University, Japan. She was inaugurated as professor of Airlangga University in 2019.
Her researches focus on oral and maxillofacial pathology, which is coherent with the lecture she delivers to her students.
