Born in Pangkal Pinang, David Segoh grew up and spent most his life in Surabaya. He earned his bachelor's degree in English, majoring in linguistics, from Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia. Due to his passion in computer-assisted language learning (CALL), he applied for Fulbright's masters scholarship in 2009 and was accepted at University of Delaware, US, majoring in educational technology. His final project was about the presence of social and teaching presences in an online discussion forum, using the community of inquiry (CoI) theoretical lens. He also received another Fulbright scholarship in 2017, called Fulbright DIKTI. This time, he was accepted at Washington State University in Pullman. His program is called Language, Literacy, and Technology. His research interests involve the uses of several theoretical lenses, namely Online Collaborative Learning and Activity Theory to investigate how a group of doctoral working collaboratively to write a publishable paper.
