Ilma Amalina was born in Malang. She obtained her BSc (2011) and MSc (2014) in Chemistry from Universitas Airlangga under supervision of Prof. Ni Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih and Dr. Hery Suwito. She obtained her PhD in 2020 from the University of Manchester working with Prof. David Procter and Prof. Stephen Taylor on synthesis of potential anticancer agent, cyclopropylbenzopyrazole, as a tool to analyse the function of Bub1 kinase. Her second project concerned the development of methodologies for the construction of complex lactone motif via reductive radical cyclisation. In her spare time, Ilma enjoys yoga, reading books and watching movies.
