UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has been chosen to host the 37th National Student Science Week (PIMNAS). This prestigious competition, drawing students from across Indonesia, is scheduled for October. One of the highlights of this event is the theme song, “Meraih Mimpi,” created by ECOVET.
ECOVET consists of students and alumni from UNAIR’s Faculty of Economics and Business and Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The group composed the song “Meraih Mimpi.” Muhammad Afifuzaki Hidayat or Zaki, a member of ECOVET, explained that the song is meant to inspire and motivate the PIMNAS participants.
Conveying spirit of “Ksatria”
Zaki elaborated that “Meraih Mimpi” conveys the importance of embodying the spirit and bravery of a “Ksatria” (Knight). The choice to include the word “Ksatria” was intentional, aiming to infuse UNAIR’s identity into the song’s lyrics.
“Initially, we were uncertain about how to incorporate UNAIR’s identity into the song. After extensive discussion, we decided to use the word ‘Ksatria,’ which is synonymous with UNAIR, as the song’s central theme,” Zaki explained in his statement on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.

In addition to incorporating the university’s identity, Zaki also explained that ECOVET interprets the spirit of “Ksatria” as a reflection of the ongoing effort and dedication to continuously strive and learn to become better in the future.
Creative and collaborative process
Zaki described the collaborative process of song creation, which involved several ECOVET members. Over a month, Zaki and the team worked on the arrangement, recording, mixing, and mastering of the song.
“One of the challenges in this theme song competition was incorporating elements of East Javanese music. Initially, we used traditional East Javanese instruments, but eventually, we added Javanese chants, enriching the song with local cultural nuances,” Zaki revealed.
The song’s creation involved collaboration from diverse backgrounds. Zaki worked with colleagues like Naufal Adila Raihan Pasha (FEB), M Thoriq Ihza Farizqi (FKH Alumni), Dimas Abimanyu Yuwono (FKH Alumni), Daniel Rian Ardhyantara (FEB), Audina Rizky Nurhermanda (FEB), and Raja Endi Isnan Fermeza (FEB). This teamwork led to the formation of ECOVET, an abbreviation for ‘Economics and Veterinary.’
Finally, Zaki expressed his hope that “Meraih Mimpi” will be well-received by listeners. “I hope listeners enjoy our work and that this song becomes a source of motivation for PIMNAS participants this year,” he concluded.
