UNAIR NEWS<\/strong> \u2013\u00a0\u00a0Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA)<\/a>\u00a0collaborated with Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE UNAIR)<\/a>\u00a0held\u00a0a Student Representative (SR\u00a0) School entitled \u201cManaging People: Teamwork and Communication\u201d\u00a0on Friday, May 12, 2023.<\/p>\n\n

The Student Representative (SR)\u00a0School Program\u00a0is a program launched by IISMA to provide insight and knowledge for the\u00a0awardees\u00a0as a provision before they go abroad.\u00a0The Student Representative (SR)\u00a0school\u00a0is\u00a0the first time after two generations of IISMA.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cWith this SR school, we have great hopes of being able to see\u00a0IISMA\u00a0awardees being\u00a0<\/em>leaders\u00a0on campuses abroad,\u201d said Rahmat Sriwijaya, Chief Director of IISMA 2023.<\/p>\n\n

At the SR School this time, he invited Ari Sufiati, an alumna of Communication Studies of Universitas Airlangga.\u00a0She has had\u00a0global leadership\u00a0experience for 15 years until now as\u00a0a Senior Product Manager\u00a0at Apple Inc.<\/p>\n\n

The importance of managing people<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

Ari Sufianti said that the place where she works now really values \u200b\u200bpeople and how humans engage each other and establish good relationships with vendors, clients, and other contractors.\u00a0It is currently needed by large companies such as Apple Inc.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cWhen someone has a personal problem, a manager at Apple always asks if they are okay. Because the joy of employees in the work environment is the capital to produce good and brilliant products and ideas,\u201d said Ari Sufianti. <\/p>\n\n

Ari added that apart from paying attention to its employees, the Apple company also looks for quality in its employees. Many applicants fail in Apple\u2019s recruitment selection because they cannot maximize and demonstrate the significant impact they have achieved. <\/p>\n\n

The IISMA\u00a0awardees\u00a0are expected to have a big impact before or after studying abroad, from what they gain before and after their studies.<\/p>\n\n

Skills required in good managing people<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

Managing people is not only about managing humans but also how to lead and manage a team.\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s different with\u00a0the boss\u00a0because, in managing people, they\u00a0must know how to treat people so they have the same mindset and vision as us,\u201d said Ari.<\/p>\n\n

Communication skills are one of the keys to\u00a0managing people.\u00a0Good communication skills must be supported by collaboration and teamwork to produce innovation.\u00a0They are the principle of big companies like Google, Apple.\u00a0Inc., and Facebook.<\/p>\n\n

Communication and teamwork must be encouraged anywhere. Students need them when studying abroad. \u201cWhen you are abroad, you will learn how to speak English and work with the locals. With it, we hope that when you return to Indonesia, you can apply it and make a big impact, \u201cconcluded Ari. <\/p>\n\n
