UNAIR NEWS \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0Dental and oral infections are ranked first out of ten groups of diseases most commonly complained about by the public.\u00a0The main cause is bacteria.\u00a0Systemic treatment with antibiotics can kill the bacteria causing infection, dental and oral disease.\u00a0It inspired a researcher from Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR<\/a>) to create a Dento-\u00dfilaser product.<\/p>\n\n

This product is a combination of Antimicrobial Dentolaser and Photobiomodulation Dentolaser and is useful as an accelerator for healing Dental and Oral Diseases. The invention was the work of UNAIR researchers Prof Dr Suryani Dyah Astuti MSi, Prof Dr Ernie Maduratna Setiawatie drg, and Deny Arifianto ST MT.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cThis product with\u00a0dual laser probe\u00a0innovation is important because two complementary lasers can be useful for treating bacterial infections, wounds, and accelerating the healing process,\u201d said Prof. Suryani to\u00a0UNAIR NEWS, May 21, 2023.<\/p>\n

Producing domestic product<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

Prof. Suryani also explained that Dento-\u00dfilaser is a new product based on non-invasive photonics with local raw materials. Furthermore, it has a Domestic Component Level (TKDN) of 70 percent, with lower operational costs and more affordable medical expenses.<\/p>\n\n

The Dento-\u00dfilaser product can also help cure several dental and oral diseases, including periodontitis, dental caries, and a root canal or endodontic infections. It also offers other benefits, such as accelerated healing after tooth extraction, surgery, acupuncture therapy, and cure skin infections.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cThis Dentolaser FBM can be utilized and further developed into mass-produced medical devices. This is to help accelerate the healing of diseases after tooth extraction, periodontal surgery, acupuncture therapy, and physiotherapy,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n

Advantages of Dento-\u00dfilaser products<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

She also added that the product has some other advantages, such as being simple to use, portable, non-invasive, and able to speed up the wound healing process, so that the laser in the product has good settings so that it does not cause pain to the patient.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cThis product is important because systemic methods with antibiotics and antimicrobial chemicals are not optimal for treating microbial infections,\u201d said the Professor of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) UNAIR.<\/p>\n\n

In the future, she hopes that the product can help and become a solution to the existing problems. Moreover, with a more competitive price, we hope the community will have the same opportunity to access health services.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cHopefully, the dentolaser product and its development can benefit society. Dentists in Indonesia are expected to be willing to use domestic tool products based on the results of clinical trials showing good efficacy,\u201d she hoped. (*)<\/p>\n\n
