UNAIR NEWS<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Winda Ayu D Riantie, a student\u00a0of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB)<\/a>,\u00a0Universitas Airlangga<\/a>\u00a0(UNAIR), was selected as a participant in the ASEAN-China Young Leaders Program (ACYLP) Model Meeting ASEAN Plus China 2023. The event occurred on June 18 \u2013 24, 2023, in Siem Rep, Cambodia.<\/p>\n\n

AFMAM Plus China is a program that aims to introduce the role and functions of ASEAN to young people interested in studying international relations and diplomacy issues. It also aims to provide more insight to the younger generation regarding diplomacy between ASEAN countries and China. <\/p>\n\n

Winda explained that in the program, all selected participants would get hands-on experience regarding a simulation\u00a0meeting\u00a0of leaders in ASEAN countries and China.\u00a0On this occasion, she had the opportunity to represent the Philippines. \n\u201cEvery country must make a\u00a0strategic paper\u00a0and\u00a0position paper\u00a0which will be discussed at\u00a0the simulation meeting\u00a0with all ASEAN countries plus China.\u00a0Each team has three\u00a0roles: Senior Official, Minister, and Head of Government.\u00a0I myself was assigned to be the Minister,\u201d said the Management study program student.<\/p>\n\n

As it was her first experience, Winda admitted that she had difficulties in writing\u00a0strategic\u00a0and\u00a0position papers.\u00a0<\/em>However, she is grateful because her colleagues help her and provide supporting references so she can learn directly from them.<\/p>\n\n

Furthermore, she is also glad because she could experience and learn about other cultures and expand her network\u00a0with her colleagues in ASEAN and China.\u00a0\u201cI could also understand diplomacy and international issues, especially ASEAN and China.\u00a0I learned\u00a0the roles\u00a0of the country\u2019s leaders during\u00a0international meetings,\u201d said Winda.<\/p>\n\n

Tips for participating in international activities\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n

In the end, Winda gave students several tips for participating in international activities that can be fully funded. According to her, there are three ways students can do it.<\/p>\n\n

First, don\u2019t hesitate to ask others\u2019 help revising your essay or video during the selection process.\u00a0Second, look for topics that are currently viral or\u00a0booming\u00a0as essay material and do research.\u00a0Finally, follow and update\u00a0accounts\u00a0that provide information on international activities, such as @aseanfoundation, @apyouths, and @globalunair accounts.\u00a0(*)<\/p>\n\n
