The initiative allows the ByteDance company to sell their own products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative immediately grabbed public\u2019s attention as many Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) used the platform for live selling. Therefore, TikTok can easily access the MSMEs\u2019 products information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color\"><strong>Opportunities and Threats<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Made Gita Nadya Ayu Ariani SE MSM the Management lecturer at the <a href=\"https:\/\/feb.unair.ac.id\/\">Faculty of Economics and Business<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/unair.ac.id\/en\">UNAIR<\/a> shared her view. She believed that the TikTok project S possesses multiple opportunities and threats for the MSMEs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the opportunity\u2019s perspective, MSMEs will easily reach the public through TikTok\u2019s livestream feature with more effective cost. However, TikTok has also planned Project S, where the company will produce its own products by utilizing market insights from Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe MSMEs\u2019 concerns were that TikTok is going to be their biggest competitor as the platform has access to the customers information and the capability to produce duplicate products with the help of factories in China,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color\"><strong>Special Strategies for MSMEs<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Gita suggested that MSMEs can compete by improving the quality of their products. The China-made products are known for its low quality and require longer distribution time before they reach Indonesia. Therefore, MSMEs need to improve their quality by requesting customer\u2019s feedback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"822\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/gita-822x1024.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-218737\" srcset=\"https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/gita-822x1024.webp 822w, https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/gita-241x300.webp 241w, https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/gita-768x957.webp 768w, https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/gita.webp 1027w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 822px) 100vw, 822px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe MSMEs can compete with mass-producing competitors by leveraging opportunities to create customized products tailored to customer preferences. They can create unique product characteristics,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Though the Project S has reached Indonesia, the MSMEs can still use the TikTok live selling to build emotional connections with customers and educate the market. However, it is necessary to keep the raw materials or recipes as confidential information for the producers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color\"><strong>Government needs to take action<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Gita emphasized that the government needs to keep up with technological advancements and establish clear regulations for online trading in Indonesia. This step is important to guard the economic resilience of SMSE by restricting product imports and preserving domestic products. With adequate regulations in place, SMSE can be protected and have better opportunities to compete in the digital era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe government can oversee the import of goods through customs and enforce requirements for local components according to the Indonesian National Standards (SNI).
