
{"id":240163,"date":"2023-09-12T15:49:00","date_gmt":"2023-09-12T08:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/creating-solar-based-fish-drying-technology-unair-lecturer-wins-best-project-at-inace-malaysia\/"},"modified":"2023-10-06T13:48:56","modified_gmt":"2023-10-06T06:48:56","slug":"creating-solar-based-fish-drying-technology-unair-lecturer-wins-best-project-at-inace-malaysia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/en\/creating-solar-based-fish-drying-technology-unair-lecturer-wins-best-project-at-inace-malaysia\/","title":{"rendered":"Creating solar-based fish drying technology, UNAIR lecturer wins best project at InACE Malaysia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>UNAIR NEWS<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The academic community\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/en\/\">of Universitas Airlangga<\/a>\u00a0(UNAIR) has once again demonstrated its excellence on the international stage.\u00a0This time, it was the work of lecturer from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fst.unair.ac.id\/\">the Faculty of Science and Technology<\/a>\u00a0(FST), Prof. Dr. Retna Apsari MSi, who won\u00a0the Best Community Engagement Project\u00a0award at the\u00a0International Conference on Academic-Community Engagement\u00a0(InACE).\u00a0The event took place on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, and Wednesday, August 30, 2023, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.<\/p>\n\n<p>In an interview, Prof. Retna said that she was carrying out a project called\u00a0Solar Dryer Dome as One of Solutions of Applicable Technology for Fisherman Community in Pengudang Village, Teluk Sebong District, Bintan Regency.<\/p>\n\n<p>Prof. Retna conveyed her team consisting of three FTMM UNAIR lecturers.\u00a0They are Rizki Putra Prasetyo SSi MT, Prisma Mengantoro SSi MT, and Yoga Uta Nugraha ST MT.\u00a0Also, two lecturers at the Faculty of Engineering,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/umrah.ac.id\/\">Raja Ali Haji Maritime University<\/a>\u00a0(UMRAH), Anton Hexso Yunianto ST MSi and Tonny Suhendra ST MCs.\u00a0Students of FTMM and FT UMRAH were also involved in this project.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Binti_foto-2_-Best-Project-FST-X-FTMM-INACE-1024x576.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-236093\" srcset=\"https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Binti_foto-2_-Best-Project-FST-X-FTMM-INACE-1024x576.webp 1024w, https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Binti_foto-2_-Best-Project-FST-X-FTMM-INACE-300x169.webp 300w, https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Binti_foto-2_-Best-Project-FST-X-FTMM-INACE-768x432.webp 768w, https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Binti_foto-2_-Best-Project-FST-X-FTMM-INACE-1536x864.webp 1536w, https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Binti_foto-2_-Best-Project-FST-X-FTMM-INACE.webp 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color\"><strong>Fish dryer equipment<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p>Prof. Retna&#8217;s team&#8217;s project is a tool for drying fish caught from the sea that utilizes heat from sunlight.\u00a0The box<em>&#8211;<\/em>shaped tool\u00a0produces steam, which is channeled out by a fan in the device.\u00a0The solar dryer dome\u00a0also has a 300 W solar panel to power the fan.<\/p>\n\n<p>&#8220;With this tool, fishermen do not need to worry about their catch getting wet if it rains, and it is also protected from insects. So, product hygiene is well-maintained,&#8221; said Prof Retna in an interview with UNAIR NEWS.<\/p>\n\n<p>&#8220;Furthermore, this tool also implements the use of\u00a0renewable energy\u00a0as a substitute for fossil fuels,&#8221; she added.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"576\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Binti_-foto-3_-Best-Project-FST-X-FTMM-INACE-576x1024.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-236095\" srcset=\"https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Binti_-foto-3_-Best-Project-FST-X-FTMM-INACE-576x1024.webp 576w, https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Binti_-foto-3_-Best-Project-FST-X-FTMM-INACE-169x300.webp 169w, https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Binti_-foto-3_-Best-Project-FST-X-FTMM-INACE-768x1365.webp 768w, https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Binti_-foto-3_-Best-Project-FST-X-FTMM-INACE-864x1536.webp 864w, https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Binti_-foto-3_-Best-Project-FST-X-FTMM-INACE.webp 900w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<p>Although the availability of components for making tools is limited, the team has to look for other alternatives.\u00a0Instead of giving up, the team that Prof. Retna led succeeded in winning the\u00a0Best Community Engagement Project Award<em>.\u00a0<\/em>Prof. Retna was happy with the idea of \u200b\u200bher team getting an A in the field of\u00a0international-scale\u00a0community development<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n<p>&#8220;This tool is a contribution of FTMM working on answers to SDGs challenges, especially SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) and 13 (Climate Action).<em>\u00a0<\/em>I hope this tool will be able to make the fish drying process more efficient,&#8221; Prof. Retna expressed her hopes for the technological innovation created by her team.<\/p>\n\n<p>&#8220;With good communication with fishermen, this product can be maximized to become an appropriate product that is more efficient and effective, especially for Bintan Island fishermen and other fishermen in Indonesia,&#8221; said Prof Retna at the end of the interview session.
