UNAIR NEWS<\/strong> – Two Universitas Airlangga<\/a> (UNAIR) students achieved remarkable success in the ASEAN Intervarsity Youth Competition (AIYC) 2024. The students are Aretha Nariswari (Faculty of Law) and Ridhwan Fadly Saputra (Faculty of Science and Technology).<\/p>\n\n

They won second and third place respectively in the hackathon competition held by Prince of Songkla University (PSU).The event was held from Wednesday (June 5, 2024) to Sunday (June 9, 2024).<\/p>\n\n

In the hackathon competition, Aretha and Ridhwan conducted research in Koo Nam Rop Village, Hat Yai, Thailand. Ridhwan said that they had to provide a solution to the problems in the village.<\/p>\n\n

“The problem in this village is how to survive and become a sustainable community so that it can attract more visitors,” Ridhwan explained.<\/p>\n\n

Showcasing<\/strong> i<\/strong>nnovation<\/strong>s<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n

Ridhwan and Aretha presented different innovations. Ridhwan provided a solution by optimizing social media in the village. According to him, social media is currently important to promote the advantages of a region.<\/p>\n\n

“I recommend using social media such as Instagram and TikTok. The goal is to maximize the dissemination of information about the advantages of the village,\u201d Ridhwan explained.<\/p>\n\n

Aretha emphasized innovating by developing learning-based centers to attract visitors. “This learning-based center is an attraction and a place for tourists to get more interactive nuances of Koo Nam Rop Village,” said Aretha.<\/p>\n\n

Collaboration opportunities<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n

This event was attended by universities from all over the region and Ridhwan and Aretha had to work with other international students. This became a challenging and interesting experience. “It is challenging when we have to work with a team with different backgrounds and even perspectives. But it becomes interesting when we are solving the same problem,” he said. \n<\/p>\n\n

In the end, they hope that other UNAIR students could participate in similar activities to improve their abilities. By participating in this international competition, students also have the opportunity to establish a wider network.<\/p>\n\n

“Here we are not only competing but also building relationships. We hope UNAIR and all of our friends can participate in activities like this while they are still students,\u201d concluded Aretha. <\/p>\n\n
