Rania Adira Shaumi, a Class of 2021 2022 student from the Faculty of Law, has successfully earned the prestigious Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) scholarship for 2024. She will spend a semester at the University of Warsaw in Poland.<\/p>\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-8a480ec94bf994ad7b1dcd9b8e42a4dc\"><strong>Driven by strong motivation<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n<p>Shaumi\u2019s aspiration to study abroad was sparked by a 10-day exchange program in Lorne, Australia. Her resolve intensified after her sister became a recipient of the first batch of IISMA scholarships, motivating Shaumi to seize the opportunity. <\/p>\n\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve always dreamed of studying abroad. A new environment with new people is incredibly refreshing, making the experience all the more memorable,&#8221; she expressed.<\/p>\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-22a3ab899f5761cc2fe33d348696de37\"><strong>Overcoming selection challenges<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n<p>However, her path to Poland was not without its challenges. Shaumi admitted to feeling anxious and doubting her abilities before applying. &#8220;I wasn\u2019t confident in my skills, especially given how competitive the IISMA program is,&#8221; she revealed. <\/p>\n\n<p>Despite her concerns, the challenge only strengthened her determination, knowing she had just two chances to apply during her academic career. The interview phase left a lasting impression on Shaumi.<\/p>\n\n<p>She shared her unique experience during a Mock Interview organized by Airlangga Mobility Representative (ARMI) UNAIR. &#8220;One word sums it up: &#8216;chaos.&#8217; I panicked, repeated my answers, and at one point, couldn\u2019t even form sentences in English,&#8221; she recounted.<\/p>\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-f578bcf6bb8d47d14c3e9dda95ec2f6a\"><strong>Support system<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n<p>Fortunately, Rania received strong support from her family, friends, and the university. Her sister helped her prepare for the interview, her parents offered financial backing, and the Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE) office provided crucial guidance throughout the process.<\/p>\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-8519e72651f84b2f927c7284b8004675\"><strong>Academic and extracurricular plans<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n<p>In Poland, Shaumi plans to focus not only on her studies but also on participating in extracurricular activities. &#8220;I\u2019m eager to volunteer, particularly in Multicultural Volunteering, where international students present their cultures,&#8221; she noted.<\/p>\n\n<p>To prepare for the challenges of living in a new country, Shaumi has been researching life in Warsaw. &#8220;I\u2019ve started learning Polish little by little through Duolingo,&#8221; she added. <\/p>\n\n<p>Determined to grow braver and more independent during her time abroad, Shaumi also offered advice to other students considering the IISMA program. &#8220;Don\u2019t overthink it\u2014just go for it and trust yourself,&#8221; she encouraged.<\/p>\n\n<p>Author: Rosali Elvira Nurdiansyarani<\/p>\n\n<p>Editor: Edwin Fatahuddin<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UNAIR NEWS \u2013 Another proud achievement has been recorded by a student of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR).
