UNAIR NEWS<\/strong> \u2013 Gaining cross-cultural and international academic experiences is invaluable for students. To gain such exposure, 13 students from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Airlangga<\/a> (UNAIR) participated in an outbound program in Malaysia for two weeks from Monday, July 29, 2024, to Wednesday, August 7, 2024.<\/p>\n\n

The students involved in this program were Gerry Gerry Yahya Suryanto, Afifatuzzahro, Muhamad Badrunada, Najwa Shifa S, Fawaz Sihab, Farika Dyani L, Syabrina Jihan Nazihah, Fatikha Rahma A, Princesa Renata Anindya Mubarok, Zahra Penta Apsari Ginting, Mochammad Hakim Ozora, Julian Dwi Susanto, and Fransisca Fita M. They represented the Student Executive Board (BEM) and Student Legislative Board (BLM) of UNAIR’s Faculty of Pharmacy.<\/p>\n\n

The program aims to provide students with the opportunity to develop a broader international perspective. In this era of globalization, cross-cultural experiences are essential for the younger generation,” explained Suryanto, one of the participants.<\/p>\n\n

Presenting research at International Conference<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

During the first week, UNAIR students participated in the International Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science Conference 2024 (IPPSC). The conference included pre-conference sessions, plenary sessions, and both oral and poster presentations. At IPPSC, UNAIR students presented their research findings to an audience comprising undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as lecturers from various universities, both domestic and international.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cThis significant challenge offered us invaluable experience, and we were recognized for our courage in presenting on an international stage,\u201d Suryanto shared.<\/p>\n\n

Moreover, the students visited Duo Pharma, a leading pharmaceutical company in Malaysia. This visit provided insights into the latest advancements in health technology being utilized in the country.<\/p>\n\n

Establishing international collaborations<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

In addition to attending IPPSC, the students visited several prestigious universities in Malaysia, including Sunway University, MSU, UiTM, and IMU. During these visits, they engaged in discussions with student councils and associations, exploring potential collaborations between UNAIR’s Faculty of Pharmacy and these institutions.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cThese discussions opened up opportunities for cooperation that not only enrich the academic experience of our students but also expand UNAIR’s international network, which will be beneficial in the future,\u201d Suryanto explained.<\/p>\n\n

He conveyed that the outbound program provided him with new learning experiences, including advancements in health technology in Malaysia and opportunities for collaboration with Malaysian student associations.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cHopefully, this program will continue and involve more students from various faculties at UNAIR, thereby creating even more opportunities for international collaboration and strengthening UNAIR’s position as a globally competitive institution,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n\n
