{"id":317239,"date":"2024-08-24T13:36:09","date_gmt":"2024-08-24T06:36:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/unair-promotes-environmental-awareness-among-freshmen-through-tree-planting-initiative\/"},"modified":"2024-08-26T07:53:01","modified_gmt":"2024-08-26T00:53:01","slug":"unair-promotes-environmental-awareness-among-freshmen-through-tree-planting-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/en\/unair-promotes-environmental-awareness-among-freshmen-through-tree-planting-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"UNAIR promotes environmental awareness among freshmen through Tree-Planting Initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>UNAIR NEWS<\/strong> \u2013 Universitas Airlangga (<a href=\"http:\/\/unair.ac.id\">UNAIR<\/a>) is using its freshman orientation program, known as Pengenalan Kehidupan Kampus bagi Mahasiswa Baru (PKKMB), not only to introduce new students to campus life but also to foster their character development.<\/p>\n\n<p>As part of this effort, UNAIR has held the &#8220;Darya Megar Garuda Tree Planting Movement,&#8221; a joint initiative between the university\u2019s Directorate of Logistics, Security, Order, and Environment (DLKKL) and the Ministry of Environment (LH) of the UNAIR Student Executive Board (BEM).<\/p>\n\n<p>Prof. Dr. M. Hadi Shubhan, UNAIR\u2019s Director of Student Affairs, attended the event on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the rear courtyard of the Gedung Kuliah Bersama (GKB) on the MERR-C Campus.<\/p>\n\n<p>The professor, who is affiliated with the Faculty of Law, highlighted that the tree-planting initiative is a strategic way for UNAIR to educate new students about environmental awareness. He emphasized that environmental concerns have become increasingly critical in today\u2019s world.<\/p>\n\n<p>&#8220;This initiative is essential because creating a green campus is a collective responsibility. This tree-planting event is a small but significant step toward making our campus greener,&#8221; Prof. Hadi Subhan told the UNAIR NEWS team.<\/p>\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-07919eb7c73f23a8ca40d46319aad805\">150 trees planted<\/h5>\n\n<p>New students came together to plant a total of 150 trees in the yard behind the Gedung Kuliah Bersama (GKB). The trees planted included four species: longan, mango, avocado, and water apple.<\/p>\n\n<p>Prof. Hadi hoped that this tree-planting initiative would become a lasting tradition for future students. He also explained that by planting trees, the younger generation actively contributes to solving existing environmental challenges.<\/p>\n\n<p>&#8220;We hope this positive initiative will continue in future PKKMB programs so that our vision of a green campus can be realized,&#8221; Prof. Hadi said. <\/p>\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-83755c24f44fba7016097169cefe8c91\">Participant impressions<\/h5>\n\n<p>Farhan Suadi, one of the event participants, expressed his enthusiasm for UNAIR&#8217;s initiative to introduce the tree-planting movement to new students. The student from the Faculty of Vocational Studies believes that environmental awareness should be instilled early to become a habit and part of the campus culture.<\/p>\n\n<p>&#8220;I am very impressed with this tree-planting initiative.
