UNAIR NEWS<\/strong> \u2013 Universitas Airlangga<\/a> (UNAIR) officially inaugurated six new professors on Thursday, December 19, 2024. The event took place at the Garuda Mukti Hall, UNAIR Management Office, MERR-C Campus. The newly inaugurated professors are: Prof. Dr. Imron Mawardi, S.P., M.Si. (Faculty of Economics and Business), Prof. Dr. Kismiyati, Ir., M.Si. (Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences), Prof. Dr. Liliek Susilowati, S.Si., M.Si., Prof. Aminatun, Ir., M.Si. (Faculty of Science and Technology), Prof. Baiq Lekar Sinayang Wahyu Wardhani, Dra., M.A., Ph.D. (Faculty of Social and Political Sciences), and Prof. Ferry Efendi, S.Kep., Ns., M.Sc., Ph.D. (Faculty of Nursing).<\/p>\n\n

Strategic goals and plans<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

During his remarks, UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih expressed his pride in the university\u2019s academic advancements, noting that UNAIR now boasts 373 professors, accounting for 17% of its total teaching staff. \u201cProfessors are a vital asset. With their academic expertise, they serve as the forefront of knowledge development and innovation, driving societal progress,\u201d Prof. Nasih stated. <\/p>\n

UNAIR aims to increase the proportion of professors to 20% of its teaching staff by early 2025. This target aligns with the university’s strategic plan to strengthen its position as a world-class higher education institution. \u201cBy early 2025, we expect to add around 40 new professors, allowing us to achieve the goal of 20%,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n

Maximizing academic resources<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

Prof. Nasih also underscored the importance of capitalizing on Indonesia\u2019s wealth of academic talent, particularly its professors. \u201cIndonesia is blessed with exceptional academic resources. The challenge lies in transforming these resources into meaningful contributions,\u201d he remarked. <\/p>\n\n

In the context of globalization, the Rector urged all stakeholders to view Indonesia as a rising force capable of influencing global dynamics. \u201cAs a great nation, Indonesia has the potential to become a global leader, driving a more equitable international system. Our impact can be far-reaching, spanning finance, defense, health, and trade,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n\n

Prof. Nasih emphasized that increasing the number of professors not only reflects UNAIR\u2019s status as one of Indonesia\u2019s leading universities but also demonstrates its dedication to nurturing future leaders who can effect positive change on both national and global stages. <\/p>\n\n
