UNAIR NEWS<\/strong> \u2013 A renewed spirit of education and real-world impact was brought to life through the 2025 edition of TIKKOPH (Public Health Communication Team). Now in its third phase, the initiative held an event titled “Show and Tell” on Sunday (July 20, 2025), at the RW 08 Sutorejo Indah Community Hall in Surabaya. The session primarily targeted children, engaging them in practical waste-sorting exercises.<\/p>\n\n

This activity followed up on previous material delivered in the Create Smart Generation (CSG) program. While the earlier sessions provided theoretical understanding, \u201cShow and Tell\u201d offered a hands-on opportunity for participants to put that knowledge into practice.<\/p>\n\n

The event kicked off in the morning with participant registration, warmly facilitated by the organizing committee. After registration, participants received a brief review of the material as a refresher before engaging in the main activity. The agenda continued with energizing icebreakers that helped lighten the mood and foster a sense of unity among the children.<\/p>\n

The event\u2019s highlight was the hands-on activity of sorting waste into three categories: organic, inorganic, and hazardous materials (B3). Guided by the TIKKOPH team, participants identified various types of waste through simulations, practicing proper disposal into designated bins. A pre-test was administered prior to the activity to assess baseline knowledge, followed by a post-test to measure learning outcomes.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cWe truly appreciate this event for educating children early on about the importance of waste separation. Hopefully, these habits carry into adulthood and make a lasting positive impact on the environment,\u201d said the Chairwoman of RW 08 Sutorejo Indah PKK (Family Welfare Movement) in her opening remarks.<\/p>\n\n

Echoing this, Ollyvia, Chair of TIKKOPH 2025, added, \u201c’Show and Tell’ isn\u2019t just a practice session\u2014it\u2019s a demonstration that environmental education can be engaging and enjoyable. We aim for children not only to understand but also to apply what they’ve learned.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

As the event wrapped up, several participants shared their experiences, expressing joy and enthusiasm about learning through interactive activities. The day concluded with the distribution of souvenirs as a token of appreciation for the children\u2019s active participation.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cShow and Tell\u201d proved that environmental education can be both fun and impactful when presented in an interactive, hands-on format. TIKKOPH 2025 is set to return with its final event in the coming weeks, promising more meaningful community engagement.<\/p>\n\n
