UNAIR NEWS<\/strong> \u2013 The 2025 Annual Scientific Meeting (PIT) of Medical Physics and Biophysics took place at the Platinum Hotel Surabaya from Thursday to Saturday (August 7\u20139, 2025), organized by Universitas Airlangga<\/a> (UNAIR). The event was chaired by Prof. Dr. Suryani Dyah Astuti, M.Si. from the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), alongside the East Java Regional Board of the Indonesian Alliance of Medical Physicists (AFISMI), led by Arie Cintya, S.Si., M.Si. Opening remarks were delivered by the Organizing Committee Chair, the Chair of the Indonesian Alliance of Medical Physics Education Institutions (AIPFMI), the Chair of AFISMI, the Dean of FST UNAIR, and the Head of the East Java Provincial Health Office, Prof. Dr. Erwin Astha Triyono, dr., SpPD-KPTI, FINASIM.<\/p>\n\n

In his speech, Prof. Triyono expressed hope that the event would make a meaningful contribution to strengthening national health resilience. He noted that advances in applied physics have driven rapid innovations in both ionizing and non-ionizing radiation technology. Such developments, he emphasized, must be supported by precise dose management to ensure both safety and treatment effectiveness. <\/p>\n\n

Medical physics transformation<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

Key speakers included representatives from Rad-Aid Tech International\u2014Nathan C. Busse and James Lee Cheow, Ph.D.\u2014as well as Assoc. Prof. Dr. Noramaliza Mohd Noor from Universiti Putra Malaysia. The meeting adopted the theme \u201cTransforming Medical Physics and Biophysics through Multidisciplinary Collaboration towards a Healthy Indonesia in the Digital Era\u201d to reflect the profound impact of digital technology on healthcare delivery, research, and education in applied physics.<\/p>\n

Breakthroughs such as AI-powered medical imaging, biological modeling, and big data integration in diagnostics and therapy require cross-disciplinary engagement to produce holistic, adaptable solutions. The theme was chosen in response to the growing complexity of modern health challenges, including degenerative diseases, public health burdens, and the need for faster, more accurate, and technology-driven services. It also underscores opportunities to strengthen the role of medical physicists in transforming the national healthcare system through innovative research, industry collaboration, and the strategic application of digital technologies.<\/p>\n\n

Knowledge exchange<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

Over the course of three days, discussions and studies were held across radiotherapy, radiodiagnostics, nuclear medicine, and biophysics, delivered through diverse formats. These included plenary sessions featuring leading experts, presentations of cutting-edge research, interactive panel discussions, and specialized workshops designed to enhance practical skills. Each session was carefully structured to ensure effective knowledge transfer.<\/p>\n\n

The gathering also served as a strategic platform for building stronger networks among universities, hospitals, research institutions, and healthcare technology industries. Participants ranged from academics and hospital practitioners to regulators and students interested in careers in medical physics and biophysics. Through cross-sector networking and dialogue, the event aimed to foster long-term collaborations that could accelerate the integration of research findings into clinical practice and public health policy.<\/p>\n\n

Health technology exhibition<\/h5>\n\n

PIT FMB 2025 also hosted an exhibition showcasing the latest innovations from medical equipment and software companies, featuring advances in medical imaging, dose monitoring, and clinical decision-support systems. This gave participants direct access to industry updates and the opportunity to explore partnerships for adopting new technologies within their institutions.<\/p>\n\n

As the event concluded on August 9, 2025, organizers expressed their hope that the collaborative and innovative spirit fostered during the meeting would continue to grow in future initiatives. UNAIR, as the host, expressed pride in contributing to the advancement of medical physics and biophysics in Indonesia through PIT FMB 2025.<\/p>\n\n

The meeting\u2019s ultimate goal, organizers emphasized, is for it to serve not only as a forum for exchanging ideas but also as a catalyst for concrete actions that advance scientific knowledge, improve healthcare quality, and strengthen Indonesia\u2019s research ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n
