UNAIR NEWS<\/strong> \u2013 Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has once again reaffirmed its commitment as an entrepreneurial university. This commitment was demonstrated through its participation in the Surabaya Great Expo, where it showcased a variety of leading innovative products. The annual multi-product and MSME exhibition organized by the Surabaya City Government was officially opened by Surabaya Mayor Dr. Eri Cahyadi, S.T., M.T., on Wednesday (5\/8\/2026) at the Exhibition Hall, Grand City Surabaya.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Also attending the opening ceremony were Vice Rector for the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem and Business Development, Prof Dr Koko Srimulyo Drs MSi and the Coordinator of the Business and Start-up Incubator at the Center for Innovation and Business Acceleration (PASINBIS), Ahmad Fadlur Rahman Bayuny, SEI MSc IBF PhD. \n<\/p>\n\n

Accelerating research commercialization<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

Bayuny explained that the exhibition serves as an opportunity for UNAIR to introduce its innovative works to a wider audience. \u201cI believe this is an excellent opportunity for us to increase the exposure of UNAIR\u2019s innovative products as well as those developed by our business incubation tenants,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

In addition to increasing product exposure, UNAIR\u2019s participation in the exhibition is also aimed at accelerating research commercialization. This is because the event is attended not only by industry players and local government institutions, but also by State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), private companies, and investors.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u201cThere are many pathways for research commercialization at UNAIR. One of them is by consistently participating in exhibitions like this to increase product exposure. This allows the public to recognize that our university is not only an educational institution but also an entrepreneurial university,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

UNAIR\u2019s participation in the exhibition also reflects its commitment to ensuring that research outcomes produced by its academic community do not remain solely as academic publications, but can also be directly utilized by society.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Aligning research outcomes with market needs<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n

Bayuny further explained that, through PASINBIS, UNAIR is actively expanding market access for research and innovation developed by its lecturers. One of the key strategies is aligning research outcomes with market demands.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cWe are currently classifying which research products are genuinely needed by the market and can be produced at an affordable cost. Under the leadership of Prof. Koko (Vice Rector for Entrepreneurial Ecosystem and Business Development), we are developing a framework to ensure that research products from UNAIR lecturers match market needs and consumer demand,\u201d he explained.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

To strengthen research commercialization, Bayuny acknowledged that UNAIR requires synergy with various stakeholders, including the government. According to him, UNAIR continuously seeks opportunities to introduce its innovative products to the public. Through these efforts, the university aims to establish stronger collaborations while increasing public awareness of its innovations.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cThis expo represents one form of strong collaboration between UNAIR and the city government. It serves as an important platform to introduce the wide range of products developed by UNAIR. We cannot simply wait for opportunities to come; we must actively seize them, in addition to utilizing social media and our digital platforms,\u201d he emphasized.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

As additional information, UNAIR showcased innovative products developed by researchers and lecturers from various disciplines. These included SATIVA toothpaste, Meditea, Diabetkol, as well as Airbilisun and Airbilinest, innovative medical devices designed to treat neonatal jaundice.<\/p>\n\n

The wide range of innovations presented reflects UNAIR\u2019s commitment to ensuring that research outcomes do not remain confined to laboratories or scientific publications, but instead evolve into products that provide tangible benefits to society.<\/p>\n\n
