As of 2026, 21 UNAIR<br\/>journals have been indexed in Scopus,<br\/>reflecting LPJPHKI ongoing efforts to build<br\/>a high-quality and ethical publication<br\/>ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Head of LPJPHKI UNAIR, Prof Ferry Efendi<br\/>SKep Ns MSc PhD, said the achievement<br\/>reflects the commitment and support of the<br\/>entire academic community to journal<br\/>development. \u201cUNAIR has built a strong<br\/>publication ecosystem. It is not simply about<br\/>the number of journals, but also about their<br\/>quality and integrity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-eddaa22e978b9719211ec4ddbde7ce60\">Publishing for impact<\/h5>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prof Efendi explained that research should not end as a draft stored on a laptop. Research needs to reach wider audiences and drive meaningful change across various&#13;\nfields. (Photo: By courtesy)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He described this as policy impact, which<br\/>occurs when research findings influence the<br\/>development or implementation of policies.<br\/>There is also knowledge impact, in which<br\/>research contributes to the advancement of<br\/>theories and academic knowledge. In this<br\/>way, publications serve as a bridge<br\/>connecting academic knowledge with the<br\/>needs of society.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cPublications serve as the main gateway.&#13;\nThey can be a channel for influencing policy.&#13;\nThe question is how our publications, or the&#13;\nthings we write, can be read, heard, and&#13;\nultimately influence policy,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Prof Efendi, the way people<br\/>access knowledge continues to change<br\/>alongside technological developments. While<br\/>television, radio, and newspapers were once<br\/>the main sources of information, social media<br\/>and various digital platforms now provide new<br\/>opportunities for researchers to disseminate<br\/>their findings.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTherefore, publications need to be shared through various channels so that knowledge can reach a wider audience,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-073e21d52770fef0cd4f497faf54f636\">Quality research, reputable journals<\/h5>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UNAIR\u2019s achievement in having 21 journals&#13;\nindexed in Scopus is supported by the&#13;\nuniversity\u2019s continued efforts to build a strong&#13;\npublication ecosystem. Prof Efendi added&#13;\nthat each journal has its own characteristics&#13;\nand covers a wide range of academic fields,&#13;\nfrom social sciences and humanities, health,&#13;\nscience and technology, to economics and&#13;\nbusiness.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Prof Efendi, this diversity of&#13;\nacademic fields is one of UNAIR journals\u2019&#13;\nstrengths. Journal managers are also&#13;\nexpected to encourage original and&#13;\ndistinctive research rather than simply&#13;\nrepeating previous studies. In addition to&#13;\nacademic diversity, UNAIR journals follow the&#13;\nprinciples of the Committee on Publication&#13;\nEthics (COPE) to uphold research and&#13;\npublication ethics.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prof. Ferry emphasized that Scopus indexing&#13;\nis not the end goal. After achieving this&#13;\nrecognition, UNAIR must maintain the&#13;\nintegrity of each journal. \u201cScopus is a starting&#13;\npoint, not the finish line.
