{"id":411046,"date":"2026-08-02T09:46:05","date_gmt":"2026-08-02T02:46:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/unair-bbk-8-students-give-hypertension-management-education\/"},"modified":"2026-09-09T16:52:06","modified_gmt":"2026-09-09T09:52:06","slug":"unair-bbk-8-students-give-hypertension-management-education","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/en\/unair-bbk-8-students-give-hypertension-management-education\/","title":{"rendered":"UNAIR BBK 8 students give hypertension management education"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>UNAIR NEWS<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 To raise public awareness about non-communicable disease, Learning with the Community (BBK) 8 Universitas Airlangga (<a href=\"https:\/\/unair.ac.id\/en\/\">UNAIR<\/a>) students in Sendangagung Village organized a free medical checkup accompanied by an education session on hypertension, on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at the Sendangagung Village Hall, Sumberejo Subdistrict, Bojonegoro Regency. This event aimed to encourage the public to undergo early detection of high blood pressure while also raising awareness about the importance of maintaining good health.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hypertension is one of the non-communicable diseases that is often referred to as \u2018silent killer\u2019 because it doesn\u2019t show any symptoms in its early stages. However, if left uncontrolled, this condition can increase the risk of stroke, heart disease, and kidney problem. Therefore, regular blood pressure checks are an important step in detecting health conditions at an early stage.<\/p>\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Medical checkup and interactive education session<\/h5>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event began with the free blood pressure check which was attended by residents of Sendangagung Village. Through this screening, participants were able to know about their blood pressure conditions, as an early screening. The event followed by an education session about hypertension, covering risk factors, signs and symptoms, complications, and preventive measures.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Puspita Ningrum, hopefully this event will raise public awareness on the importance of checking up on blood pressure regularly. \u201cWe hope the people will not only be aware about the result of their blood pressure checkup, but also understand the importance of applying a healthy lifestyle to prevent hypertension and its complications,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The education session also emphasized the importance of applying a healthy lifestyle, such as limiting salt intake, doing physical activities regularly, maintaining a healthy weight, avoiding cigarettes, and undergoing medical checkups regularly. Moreover, the public was reminded that people with hypertension must continue to take their medication as prescribed by healthcare professionals to keep their blood pressure controlled and minimize the risk of complications.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This free medical checkup and education session on hypertension are part of BBK 8 UNAIR\u2019s promotional and initiative efforts to improve the public\u2019s health.
