UNAIR NEWS \u2013<\/b> Mental health remains a highly relevant issue today, particularly within the university setting. UNAIR’s<\/a> Directorate of Academic Affairs is responsible for all educational processes, including student academic success, which is closely tied to students’ psychological well-being. In response to this, the Directorate of Academic Affairs presented the Academic Advisor Capacity-Building Program titled First Aid for Students’ Psychological Wounds (P3LP).<\/span><\/p>\n\n

In her remarks, Director of Academic Affairs Dr Maftuchah Rochmanti MKes noted that development from one generation to the next occurs dynamically. She said that methods of teaching, guidance, and mentorship must be equally dynamic and adapt to current conditions.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cWe must adapt to current conditions. Today’s teenagers naturally have different psychological conditions, and we need to adjust to that,\u201d Dr Rochmanti said on Monday (August 31, 2026) at the Sriwijaya Room, ASEEC Tower, Dharmawangsa-B Campus, UNAIR.<\/p>\n\n

UNAIR commitment for P3LP students\u00a0<\/b><\/h5>\n\n

Dr Rochmanti emphasized that the Directorate of Academic Affairs couldn’t work alone; cross-unit collaboration at UNAIR is needed, along with the involvement of lecturers in supporting the psychological well-being of UNAIR students. One example of this commitment is the assessment test administered to new students.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u201cThis year, we jointly developed a new set of metrics. These include openness, resilience, mental well-being potential, learning styles, and indicators related to factors that influence students’ psychological well-being,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n\n

Dr Rochmanti also emphasized that the results of this assessment will be used to identify students’ psychological conditions. The goal is for UNAIR students to be psychologically, mentally, and physically healthy, allowing them to study calmly and reach their fullest potential.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u201cWe sincerely hope that all academic advisors will share any information if there are concerns regarding a student’s psychological well-being. We are promoting this to optimize the role of academic advisors in supporting the academic development of UNAIR students,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n

Academic advisor role for students<\/b><\/h5>\n\n

In line with this, Head of LPMB UNAIR Prof Hery Purnobasuki PhD expressed hope that the event would provide an opportunity to explore various psychological topics through joint discussion. He noted that students play an important role that should be maximized to help them gain valuable experience and achieve shared goals.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cToday’s topics include \u2018The Current State of Adolescents\u2019 by drg Vitria MSi, \u2018The Role of Academic Advisors in Students\u2019 Academic Progress’ by Aries Widya Gunawan MM, and \u2018Student Mental Health\u2019 by Dr Sri Widati MSi and Prof Dr Nurul Hartini MKes. I hope this will be beneficial for all academic advisors going forward,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n
