UNAIR NEWS – Jobs opportunities do not only come from state or private companies. In this developing era and many kinds of jobs or professions, students are expected to create their own business. Essentially, students have many networks and experiences to start their own business, as a thinker and creator of jobs openings.
That was the foundation of Endeavor, a global organization which assists some successful stories of entrepreneurs in developing countries. Endeavor cooperated with Center of career Development and Entrepreneurship (PPKK) held a talk show, The Power of Entrepreneurship.
The event was held in Garuda Mukti Hall, UNAIR Management Office Building on Thursday February 18. It was attended by 430 students from 31 universities. In the event, students got insights on entrepreneurship from speakers such as Odi Anindito (Coffee Toffee founder), Aaron Fishman (East Bali Cashew founder), Jodi Lee Cooper (Jodi Lee product designer), and dr. Grace Judio (lifestyles enthusiast doctor and founder of the first eating disorder clinic in Indonesia).
In the talkshow, the speakers shared their business experiences, such as the difficult times they had starting their business, until they achieve success and popularity in the public.
“One of the objectives was to make students attending had the spirit to be entrepreneurs. They can also learn how to do business through sharing session. To give impressions to students and fresh graduate, what to do in the future,” said Reza Caropeboka, as Communication and Outreach Manager of endeavor.
Reza also wanted to show to the students that Indonesia also has great businessmen as foreign businessmen.
“We usually cooperate with companies which have achieved success. But this time we want to talk to the students. We want to share. We have entrepreneurs which can compete with international entrepreneurs,” he said.
Other than sharing session, the speakers also gave tips to students and fresh graduates in starting a business. They share insights on which business model easy to get sponsors as investing parties can assist entrepreneurs when they have funding problems.
Other than talkshow, there was also a job fair. It was managed by crews of East bali Cashew, Coffee Toffee, kebab Turki, and Lighthouse. (*)
