UNAIR NEWS – Department of English Literature FIB UNAIR is always consistent in developing writing habit. It held annual Seminar on Journalism in the 21st Century on Saturday, April 30. Held in Siti Parwati Hall FIB UNAIR and in collaboration with RELO (Regional English Language Office), it was attended by many speakers either from RELO or practitioners on journalism.

To represent the department, Pujo Sakti Nur Cahyo who was also the supervisor of the seminar said that the seminar was aimed to train students to be more active and productive in writing.

“I hoped that this activity can make students be more creative and productive in writing especially for English Literature students,” he said.

This annual event was also attended by the representative of General Commissariat of the USA in Surabaya, Erica Karlson. Furthermore, the event was a great success and it could not happened without many supporting parties such as IALF (Indonesia Australia Language Foundation) Surabaya and Pusat Bahasa Universitas Airlangga Surabaya, also General Consulate of the USA in Surabaya.

“Hopefully this event can bring harmony among English academicians in universities. Moreover to encourage more creative works either journalism or popular writing among English students,” he said. (*)
