UNAIR NEWS – Indonesian wealth of natural resources is indisputable. There are so many natural resources such as commodities from soil, agriculture, plants and animals and other resources. They have uniqueness to themselves as well as to be offered to any field of studies at international level.
This condition is understood well by Faculty of Pharmacy. Therefore, the faculty located in Campus B committed to promote local values to contribute in pharmacy, at national or international level as traditional material believed that it can compete with other countries’.
“We wanted to make our natural resources be icon. Indonesia resources’ exploration to produce drugs will always be conducted,” said the Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy Dr. Umi Athiyah, Dra., MS., Apt. met in her office.
She stated that teams from FF always contribute in drugs researches of malaria, cancer, TBC and other diseases and all of them were made of Indonesian natural resources. In addition, researches on herbal drugs or supplements production are also conducted. Experts from FF, according to Ummi, were also requested by the central government to contribute some ideas or thought on developing program of BPOM.
On the other hand, FF is also ready to achieve UNAIR’s dream to be a World Class University. Transforming into one of the Top 500 Universities is not an easy task. But, it is not impossible.
To achieve the target, FF has prepared some strategies such as reinforcing education culture, research, and community service. “We have a principle to focus on the process. If the process is good, the result must be pleasing,” said Ummi.
She explained that all this time FF has shaped the culture or spirits of excellent performance. All elements in faculty are in synergy. For example on research aspect, lecturers communicate actively to students to direct them in conducting researches useful for the society. Later on, the research can be further developed by the lecturer, or continued by the student itself. From this process, there will be more academicians excellent in applicative researches to meet global challenges.
The ability to research well, will be achieved through excellent educational system. And with excellent research, with accurate observation, effective community service can be done.
“We always improve the process and develop the system well. If the process is already good, the quality of three aspects of Tri Dharma (education, research and community service) implemented will bring us to world class,” she said. (*)
