FEB Mosaic Shares Happiness with Children in Rangkah

UNAIR NEWS – Sharing is not about how much we can give but how much willingness to try to care. In line with this sentence, Mosaic (Moslem Student Association of Economic & Business Faculty) held an activity, Mosaic Shares event on Sunday, September 2. It was held at Taman Belajar Makam Rangkah, Kapas Krampung, Mosaic wanted to share happiness and education for the children there.

Caris Wibowo, chief executive of Mosaic Shares, explained that the activity was one of the Mosaic work programs routinely held every year. This time Mosaic works with the community concern with street and marginal children, Aruna Natha. Taman Belajar Makam Rangkah is the chosen location because, the learning park has been assisted by of Aruna Natha community.

“Because many UNAIR students are members of Natha Aruna. We also collaborated to hold this event. We want to share with those who lack and have not got what they want, “he explained.

In this activity, the education aspect is emphasized. Considering, the children there have not received special attention regarding education. Many children become workers at an early age. After school, they help parents make a living. For example, selling newspaper in the street around the campus.

To attract children’s enthusiasm, Mosaic invited a storyteller called Kak Awan. When the story was begun, the children watched carefully. The storytelling and expressive expressions of the storyteller succeeded in returning the cheerfulness.

Not only that, they also followed a series of stories well. It was proven when the committee asked several questions after the storyteller finished the story. Almost all children raise their hands, wanted to answer. Apparently, they were able to answer all questions correctly.

The program continued with word games. The committee quite difficult to handle the children but on the other hand, the committee was happy to see the response of the children who were so excited throughout the event.

In the end, the activity was closed by distributing prizes and taking pictures together. The committee also gave additional gifts to children who were able to answer questions and mention Pancasila correctly.

Through these activities, Caris hopes that the learning spirit of the children of Rangkah can be improved. However, education for children is the main thing that must be fulfilled.

“Hopefully the children will have more spirit to learn after participating in this activity. And, hopefully this year the event will be even better, “he said. [*]
