UNAIR NEWS – Because of the landslide happened in Banaran village in Ponorogo on Saturday, April 1, Faculty of Humanities UNAIR Alumni Association wanted to give aid. IKA FIB gave the relief aid by coming on site on Monday, April 3.
Noer Sidik, S.S, M.Hum., as the IKAFIB coordinator, said that the aid was given out of their concern for the disaster happens in Banaran. He said that it was initiated by the head of Alumni of Literary and Cultural Studies Program, Nyoman Suwarta, M.Hum.
“The aid has been collected since the news of Ponorogo disaster. We collected money or goods,” said Noer Sidik.
Nyoman Suwarta, M.Hum said that the aid expected to be given soon as the victims really need food supplies. Some donated biscuits, clean drink water, instant noodles and some cash.
The aid was given through Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH) established by Natural Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Ponorogo in located in Wagir village.
As we all know, the condition of the disaster victim is alarming, especially the psychological trauma for loosing families. Therefore, after this aid, IKA FIB has plan to collaborate with IKA UNAIR which is comprised of various disciplines so they can also support them.
“There are many disciplines from IKA UNAIR which can contribute actively together relieving the disaster such as trauma healing can be handled by IKA FPsi, public health can be handled by IKA FKM, and sanitation and medicine can be handled by alumni of Faculty of Medicine,” said the coordinator of IKA FIB.
IKA UNAIR and other education institutions are still possible to contribute actively as there are still phases of disaster.
IKA FIB still opens opportunity for donations. When it is enough for distribution, it will be sent directly. (*)
