UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga took part in the success of “Bhakti Sosial Bekangdam V / Brawijaya” at Denjasaang Headquarters V-44-13 Jl. Raya Ketimang, Wonoayu, Sidoarjo, on Saturday (7/4) yesterday. In the free health examination, UNAIR participated through Faculty of Medicine (FK) and Faculty of Dental Medicine (FKG).
FK UNAIR sent five doctors from the Internal Disease Division (IPD) PPDS FK UNAIR / Dr. Soetomo Hospital. They were dr. Stevanus Imanuel, dr. Caesar Legalego, dr. Muhammad Idham, dr. Bimantoro, and dr. Arina Mana Sikana.
The five doctors successfully provided health services to 250 patients coming from the villages around Wonoayu Sub-district, such as from Ploso Village, Malangbong, Tanggul, Jimbaran Wetan, and Kemilang. UNAIR was also supported by Medicuss Foundation, Bandung, which provides the drugs.
FKG UNAIR also sent some dentists to collaborate with members of PDGI (Association of Indonesian Dentists) Surabaya Branch. They disseminated dental and oral health and gave dental examination to about 200 elementary and junior high school students around Wonoayu.
After providing health examination service, which ended at 12.00, dr. Stevanus Imanuel and dr. Moh Idham presented their evaluation, in average implementation of such community health service, the most common complaints from patients were knee pain, low back pain, and hypertension (high blood pressure).
“It’s understandable, as most of them were senior citizens. They work as farmers, lift heavy goods and so on. There were also other degenerative factors, “said Moh. Idham, who claimed to have often been involved in such health service.
“Actually there were also patients who should be referred to the hospital for further examination, but we have no right to do it. So we only give advice them medically. For example, if they have BPJS facilities, they are advised to get treatments to Puskesmas and / or to the referral hospital, “added Stevanus.
For example there was a patient coming with labored breathing. Beside the obesity, after being examined, the patient was diagnosed with a swelling in his heart. It was an early stage of heart failure. There was also a patient suspected with TB symptoms, after being prescribed the drug, he was advised to immediately seek treatment at the Puskesmas / hospital.
Head of Transportation Support(Bekang) Kodam V / Brawijaya, Colonel CBA Bambang Muktiono, SE., expressed his gratitude to the partners who support the implementation of the service held in the commemoration of 69th Anniversary of Bekang Dam V / Brawijaya, eppecially to FK and FKG UNAIR, PDGI Kota Surabaya, and Medicus Group.
The event was held not to seek popularity, fame, pretence, but solely to show their concern and willingness to share to the community in need.
“We have our sincere intention to worship, share with others, and hopefully those who support this activity are also recorded with good charity and worship,” said Colonel Bambang Muktiono, who was also attending the health examination, dialogue and advised some patients .
After the patients from the surrounding community, the TNI members in Bekang, and members of Persit Branch 2 Bekang Branch IV Pangdam V / Brawijaya consulted with the doctor of FK UNAIR about their health. Interestingly, patients from various villages, were picked up and after the health exam were also taken home using vehicles of Bekang Dam V / Brawijaya. (*)
