UNAIR NEWS – Campus C Universitas Airlangga has been crowded with students in white and black uniform for a few days. With yellow and blue caps, they are in groups participating in Angkatan Muda Ksatria Airlangga (Amerta) event.
On Saturday, August 5, they practiced to speak in front of their group. Each group was given a topic of discussion on the recent phenomenon, on politics, economy, and even health.
Every member of the group was asked to speak their mind. They were expected to agree and disagree with the other group members view.
Head of Student Executive Board UNAIR Anang Fajrul said that this year’s AMERTA was in line with the theme of Freshmen Orientation (PKKMB) UNAIR, “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika”. Freshmen were invited to understand the national condition.
“Bhinneka Tunggal Ika as a theme was inspired by the problems of this nation. Yesterday, in the freshmen affirmation ceremony, there was a speech from Former of BIN (State Intelligence Agency), configuration of Pancasila, now we are having discussions on the phenomena in Indonesia. They were invited to analyze and defense their arguments,” said Anang.
The freshmen were divide into 77 groups. There was a facilitator in each group for the discussion. “In this kind of condition, the media should not give opinion or influences to the public,” said one of the freshmen in a discussion.
“Indonesia will be successful in ASEAN Economic Community if the youth are ready with excellent knowledge and skills,” said a student from other groups.
Previously in the morning, the freshmen were asked to mark a banner with Pancasila picture with their handprints as their way of showing loyalty. In the afternoon, after the discussion, they recited Pancasila and swore an oath as students.
AMERTA and PPKMB will be closed on Monday, August 7. In the closing ceremony, UKM UNAIR and alumnus of Faculty of Economics and Business UNAIR, Piyu the musician, will attend.
On Wednesday, August 2, UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih affirmed 6,780 freshmen in Airlangga Convention Center (ACC). There were 5,634 freshmen from the bachelor’s degree, 1,031 from Diploma 3 degree and 96 from Diploma 4. They were freshmen affirmed from SNMPTN, SBMPTN and Independent Admission.
