UNAIR NEWS – The rapid development of the digital world gets real. Social media, which was used for entertainment purposes, has now transformed into a multi-use medium. Content creator career has become popular with promising benefits.

Sukma Ningrum, a content creator, believes that the job provides two major benefits apart from the additional income. First, being able to spread positive information.

“There are three parties benefited from it; other people, the third party, and ourselves,” she said during the Airlangga Digital Coaching event on Monday, October 3, 2022.

When someone creates content on social media, they spread information and knowledge to the audience, which may benefit third parties.

Sukma named an example when she created café review video content. The video content becomes netizens’ consideration to visit the reviewed spot. On the other hand, the café owner will be benefited from its promotion to the public.

“At least we help the third parties (café owners, ed) increase their revenue,” said the Universitas Airlangga alumna.

For one’s personal benefit, Sukma believed that a content creator actively spreading information will gain personal branding, reputation, and potentially becomes a public figure.

“Viewers who continuously see our contents, such as reviewing café, dine out, they won’t only think that we have a lot of money. A mindset will be built among the viewers, ‘see Sukma’s story before visiting the café, she was there yesterday,’ Right there, we have got the personal branding,” she said,” she explained.

Enhancing self-creativity

In the event held by UNAIR Center for Communications and Public Information, Sukma said that being a content creator can also improve one’s creativity. Another benefit is that it helps students finish academic assignments, as nowadays, school assignments are highly associated with social platform.

“The extra things from it, when students were given some assignments. As you’ve been around social media for some time, your creativity will be honed. It will improve over time,” she told the participants.
