UNAIR NEWS – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Universitas Airlangga has held another prestigious international conference. It was the International Conference on Contemporary Social and Political Affairs (ICoCSPA) 2019. The theme for the fifth ICoCSPA was “Transformation of Nation State and Global Society on Gender Equality and Social Inclusion.”
The event which was held at Amerta Hall Campus C UNAIR was opened by UNAIR Vice Rector III Prof. Mochammad Amin Alamsjah, Ir., M.Si., Ph.D. In his remarks, Prof. Amin said that this year’s ICoCSPA invited participants to conduct a scientific activity that reviews issues in many fields. They are Public Policy and Good Governance, Environment, Disaster and Climate Change, Community Based Economy and Poverty Alleviation, Social Conflict and Human Mobility, Violence and Human Rights, Education and Local Initiatives, Global-Local Policy and Digital Society, Social Capital and Social Movement, Children, Reproductive Health and Family, and Culture and Local Preservation.
“ICoCSPA will continue to raise social and political issues that are being by academics and some parties who are focused on the problems which have become the theme of the conference,” he said.
Meanwhile, added a statement from Prof. Amin, Vice Governor of East Java Emil Elistianto Dardak Ph.D., in his remarks spoke a lot about good governance, the role of the global community, education, and gender. The Vice Governor, Emil, also stressed that with the existence of the international conference, there would be many ideas from academics that could be proposed as a policy.
“This is certainly a step and an effort to make a real contribution to society,” he said.
The Dean of FISIP UNAIR Dr. Falih Suaedi, Drs., M.si., in his remarks stressed that ICoCSPA 2019 is an effort to look for implications of the transformation of a nation state and the global community on gender equality and social inclusion as well as its impact on society. Because, all social and political scholars recognize that the world is undergoing important social transformations driven by the impact of globalization, the global change, and the economic and financial crisis, resulting in growing inequality, extreme poverty, exclusion and rejection of basic human rights.
“This transformation shows efforts for innovative solutions that are conducive to universal values of gender equality, peace, human dignity, and without violence and non-discrimination,” he concluded.
