UNAIR NEWS – To improve the quality of dedication excellence, the Institute for Community Service (LPM) Universitas Airlangga attended “6 th AUN USR & Steering Committee ” at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur a while ago.
Chairman of LPM UNAIR Prof. Dr. H. Jusuf Irianto, Drs., M .Com ., said that the meeting was attended by several representatives from various universities in ASEAN, such as from Indonesia, Philippines, Cambodia, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia as the host.
“The purpose of the meeting was to evaluate the programs and activities of the period 2016-2017 and to plan for 2017-2018,” he said.
Furthermore, Prof. Jusuf also said that in 2016 there was ASEAN Youth Volunteer Program (AYVP) involving 49 young men aged 18 -30 years from all ASEAN countries. In the following year, he added, there was also ” The Social Return on Investment Workshop ” on ” Social Return on Investment – a Tool to Measure Impact (SROI)”.
“In this regard, the AUN members have also published the ASEAN Journal of Community Engagement,” he added.
At the end, for the period 2017-2018, LPM UNAIR proposed that all activities should be developed on a wider scale and more participation from higher member institutions.
“We also propose synergistic and collaborative activities of AUN and APUCEN based on penta helix collaboration involving five parties, namely government, private sector, non-profit institutions (NGOs), universities, and international institutions,” Prof. Jusuf.
LPM UNAIR proposal was accepted and became the reference for preparing the main theme which will be discussed in ” The 4 th Asia Engage Regional Conference ” at Chiang Mai University, Thailand in November 2018. The participants agreed to set up a conference in Thailand entitled ” Rising to the Challenges of SDG’s through Sustainable Volunteerism for Community Engagement together with Industry and International Community “.
