UNAIR NEWS – The officials and members of Universitas Airlangga Alumni Association (IKA-UA) of East Java (Jatim) held a successful meeting and formulated some work programs on Saturday, April 8. It was the first meeting since it was established on February 4, 2017 and it was held in Amrta Hall Fourth floor of Management Office Building, Campus C Mulyorejo, Surabaya.
The keynote speaker was UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Moh Nasih, SE., MT., Ak., CMA., First Chairman of Central Management (PP) IKA-UA Drs. Ec. Haryanto Basoeni. IKA-UA Jatim is chaired by Dr. Hendy Hendarto, dr., Sp.OG, and there were IKA-UA representatives from Malang, Jember and Madiun attending.
“The meeting results will be discussed in 9th IKA-UA Congress held in Surabaya, April 15.As the host for the congress, IKA-UA Jatim must contribute for IKA-UA in the future,” said Hendy Hendarto when he presented his programs.
In his speech, UNAIR Rector Prof. Moh Nasih stated his pleasure as UNAIR alumni can improve their contributions to the community, in professional business, industry and bureaucracy. The network of alumni is also extended as well. It is in line with academic efforts conducted by the university, for example about student admission.
”As the official trusted to lead the university, I am glad with the efforts made. Let’s together improve the contribution and alumni UNAIR should not only excel in its own turf in East Java,” he stated. “So, once again, the alumni reputation should be strategically improved in any aspects at national and international level,” said UNAIR Rector.
The First Chairman PP IKA-UA Drs. Ec. Haryanto Basoeni gave directions as the vision and missions according to AD/ART of IKA-UA. The reference and the guide meant is the four pillars of UNAIR alumni activities, community service, organization validation, network and alumni empowerment also alma mater partnership and other institutions.
”The community service is an important program and it is the soul of alumni organization. What are the foundations? We used to study with support from the state scholarship from the taxes paid by the community. Therefore as we have been graduated, we have a moral obligation to return the favor, especially to the people with financial difficulties,” said Haryanto.
Organization validation is aimed to create strong management from the central to the branches in towns. Furthermore, every member can work and perform according to their tasks.
Meanwhile, the network and empowerment of alumni is aimed to strengthen Airlangga Connection. The alumni who assume important and strategic position in the bureaucracy, BUMN, national/foreign private companies, and political parties can strengthen and support each other, including creating job placements for unemployed alumni.
”To support UNAIR target, Top 500 ranking of World class university (WCU), IKA-UA should also strengthen ties with other universities’ alumni association to support each other,” said Haryanto Basoeni, an alumnus of FE UNAIR.
His suggestion for IKA-UA Jatim to make down-to-earth programs to be executed by existing resources also accepted by the officials of IKA-UA Jatim in order to promote real community services. (*)
